International youth projects benefit most those with fewer opportunities

European research1 shows that participants in international mobility projects report a clear positive impact of their participation on their competences, their behaviour and their values. But what’s more, these international projects have a significantly higher effect on young people with fewer opportunities (YPFO). Compared to ‘well-off’ young people with most opportunities (YPMO), thosewith fewer opportunities systematically rate the effects of an international youth project more positively. The data of the RAY research project indicates that the Youth in Action programme (now Erasmus+ Youth) is a good tool to reach its ‘equity and inclusion’ aims.

Fierce Women card game

Fierce Women card game was developed by an organization called Common zone founded in 2005. with the goal to promote gender equality, social justice and independent culture. Common zone’s most popular and regionally recognized project is nonprofit media VoxFeminae.net, active for 13 years, and it’s section called Fierce Women, consisting of more than 300 biographies of women who made great contributions to society, like Virginia Woolf, Simone de Beauvoir, Marija Jurić Zagorka and Marie Curie. Thinking about how to reach even more people with the stories of Fierce Women, Common zone’s founder, and a big fan of board and card games, Gabrijela Ivanov, came up with the idea to develop a card game that would consist of cards that introduce fierce women from all over the world. And in addition they developed a Fierce Women educational package that explains how these cards can be used in 16 different educational activities focusing on gender equality . educational package is free of charge and you can request it at the end of their web page.

In line with UKRI/UNICEF guidelines, this study was published open access to provide accessibility to the research results for all participants and relevant stakeholder communities in Afghanistan, Somaliland, and beyond. The researchers additionally made provisions prior to publication for participants to validate or challenge the findings (e.g., feedback loops), and to ensure diverse perspectives from women and men in each context. Challenges encountered: Limits on engaging local partners as research collaborators, due to internal regulations at home institution and the funding body; Inability to co-author with local gatekeepers due to need to protect identity of all participants in fragile and conflict-affected contexts; Getting local responses was complicated due to financial constraints (e.g., wifi usage). The study indicates both the possibilities and challenges of practicing inclusive research.

Seminar „Embrace Inclusion & Diversity in your Erasmus+ projects“ was organized as part of the Long-term activity (LTA), within Training and Cooperation Activities (TCAs). The National Agency for Mobility and European Union Programmes developed the seminar in partnership with NA’s from Austria, Estonia, Finland, Malta, Romania and

Italy.
Seminar was organized in a hybrid format and gathered 71 participants (54 onsite; 17 online) from 18 different countries (Austrija, Estonia, Finland, Malta, Rumania, Italy, Croatia, Germany, Luxemburg, Latvia, Netherland, Poland, Macedonia, Turkei, Serbia, Slovenia, Belgium, Chech republic). Participants were Erasmus + beneficiaries (K1 and K2) in the fields of SE (19 participants), VET (16 participants), HE (12 participants) and AE (24 participants) that had experience or an interest in inclusion & diversity topic. Participants were representatives of organisations that have experience in delivering projects related to inclusion and diversity.
Outputs from small and big group discussions have been collected and are presented in this content report.

I have worked on development of climate literacy cards using easy language to support people with intellectual disabilities in understanding key climate-related concepts. The cards contain simple sentences, clear visuals, and step-by-step explanations of topics such as climate change, pollution, recycling, energy use, and everyday sustainable actions. Each card focuses on one idea at a time and uses accessible vocabulary, high-contrast images, and practical examples from daily life.
The goal of these cards is to make climate education understandable, engaging, and empowering for people with intellectual disabilities, enabling them to participate actively in environmental discussions and make informed choices in their communities.

Escape Classroom-Sensitising adventure arranged in a classroom

Teaching children between age 6-14 is a real challenge. Never has inclusion and diversity played such an important role than in recent years. Involing all members in school life with different abilities and opportunities needs multitasking where sensitising is a crucial point. As a brainchild I created a sensitising escape room where children can learn and experience through a class adventure disablities, like living with dyslexia, in wheelchair, with learning- and social problems or fleeing from the home country, Ukraine. The escape room can be arranged and carried out in any classroom.

Plural Words - Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) to foster Inclusion

Inclusive communication should be taught from early childhood to ensure a better inclusion not only in the classroom, but also in our society. Equiping children from the youngest age with various communication tools, prepare them to have greater agency through self-expression and self-realisation is very important task.

Plural Words is a European project aimed at raising awareness about Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) and disseminating this method;

destigmatising communication troubles and breaking prejudices about AAC; democratise the use of AAC in early and primary schools for all children.

During the project we created various resources:

AAC boxes – Containing different AAC resources on literacy, numeracy and daily life topic; an E-learning module – To train education professionals on AAC and communication troubles; a Pedagogical guide – For early and primary school teachers who would like to become familiar with AAC; 9 pedagogical sheets for professionals – Supporting the implementation of the boxes into daily practice; a Collection of Best Practices – To get inspired from innovative and inspiring organisations, professionals and actions on AAC led in Europe.

All Materials are free to use and download at 6 Languages: English, French, Italian, Romanian, Polish and Croatian.
