Is there a time when you feel like you are using too much technology? Are teachers using a lot of online tools instead of actually communicating with students?

I feel like that CAN happen! My daughter is a freshman and she is constantly doing assignments online.. just yesterday she said that her preAP english teacher said that they were going to be doing an assignment "using their creativity." My girl was SO EXCITED because to her "creativity" means art and drawing and actually creating. It instead meant another assignment on google slides. Technology is amazing- but sometimes other methods are needed too!

Ensuring that there is clear and concise communication between a student and their teacher will always be a vital rule or responsibility in a classroom. I do believe due to the advancement in technology, teachers have used different apps to “crutch” their communication with parents and their students. I do realize the importance of keeping parents updated on their students’ grades and behavior in the classroom, but the students should not feel blindsided in the process. Teachers should focus more on improving their communication with their students themselves, rather than relying on the parent to fix the issue at home.

I feel like this is completely possible. In some cases I feel technology is relied on a great deal. For me personally, I do not ever feel that technology is used too much. I teach 1st grade and so much of our learning is hands-on and directly taught. We use technology when we can and incorporate it into many things, but I have never felt technology takes over or is too much in my classroom.

I think I have a unique perspective on this. Yes, I do believe there are times when teachers are relying on technology too much. However, there are times when that is needed. I say that because I currently have two children participating in digital learning. I was against it at first when it was suggested to me by my daughter's principal. However, it has been two months now and I can see some major improvements in her learning. I am thankful I am able to be home right now to help her. My other daughter (a junior high student) recently started digital learning out of necessity. She is really like it so far. One good thing is they are not effected by the schools being shut down. Their lessons are already programmed in for the year.

I believe technology is a tool and a way to enhance learning. Teachers should not use it as a way to educate students without any help from themselves. Students will start to depend too much on technology and will not seek the teacher for guidance. After-all, in person instruction is much more efficient then virtual.
