The important lesson is someone will always be with you. You might not think there is someone who's there, but there always is. Helen figures this out throughout the book. Anne was there for Helen throughout. This is significant because it should make the reader feel more loved. Just making them more happy and grateful.

In the beginning of the book Helen is angry and unhappy. She hates the fact that she's blind and deaf. That changes throughout the whole book. Anne Sullivan had changed Helens life in summary of words. Anne gave Helen in words a much happier life, a way to communicate with the world. By the ending of the book Helen is a much happier person. She is not angry at life anymore, just happy.
