The 1920's was a time of segregation and skepticism regarding immigration. Some of the racial tensions were spurred on by the KKK. In 1919 the Volstead Act was passed restricting Americans from drinking Alcohol. This period was known as Prohibition and lasted throughout the 1920's.

The 1920's, however, would see a rise in Jazz music and dance. American's also spent more money on consumer goods including electric refrigerators, radios, and most importantly the automobile.
