The speaker is trying to prove that it's not only being a teen that increases risk taking, but also a sort of numbing to the brain of the negative emotions that are associated with risk. So we should try to avoid risky situations so that we don't become numb to these emotions. Personally I disagree, while a risky situation is very vague, people need to be able to take risks, perhaps not in the consumption of booze or drugs, but in other aspects. We shouldn't shelter our children from something as basic as risk taking. Yes some risky situations are inherently bad, but risk isn't something we should shelter children from

Between 13-18 we make a lot of dumb decisions because we are still learning and we learn for decisions we have made. Also at that age, your growing and have more risks/exposed to more things and it could also lead to peer pressure to make dumb decisions.

This is because habituation causes them to lose their feelings of fear and anxiousness and instead feel excitement at the thought of taking risk. The speaker suggests that we provide teenagers with other activities and limit their access to risky behaviors. I would agree. - Jezreel Toatley

Some risks should be avoided, while others should be encouraged.

Her research was something that has been resaid a million similar ways in past years. Her solutions were the same. I do feel less likely to take risks knowing the potential consequences, but the thrill would always be there nevertheless. I do like that she included a few sentences about good risk taking, which will never stop being something great to partake in. Her presentation was entirely correct, but it's execution could've better related to the teenagers watching rather than the people shaming them- Jezreel Toatley
