1. All the cartoons have a phrase or word on them and they are all in black and white. They are all very dark in like meaning. One has a skull on it, one has"bad news", one has a dead pig, and the last one has a nazi symbol. They all show negative connotations.

2. "And if Russia is crushed" message is taking down the Nazi's one by one. The second one shows Nazi legions marching towards Stalingrad which shows the failure or success from Nazi. The third one's meaning is to show concern about the Nazi invasion that was in Russia and the success of the US naval forces. The last one shows Hitler’s army beginning to progress going to Russia.

3. I think the average American understood that the Soviet Union were very important in the war.

4. I think the most important cartoon is the third one because it's easy to interpret what the message is and still uses pictures to help define their message. All of the other cartoons

1. How are thee cartoons different? Similar?
I think that these cartoons are similar in a way because they are both portraying an opinion of destruction of the Nazis and Hitler . They are different because

2. What is the message of each cartoon?
I think that the message for the first cartoon is the defeat of the Nazis. "One by one" is a key sentence. The second cartoon is saying that the Germans and Nazis are walking into their own death. The third cartoon is saying that the US is the good side and any news about Nazis succeeding is bad news. The fourth cartoon is portraying how countries will "eat up" Hitler, he is the not power leader anymore.

3. What do you think the average American understood about Soviet Union’s role in the war? In what ways do you think that these cartoons would have helped educate ?
I think that the average American understood that the Soviet Union was the weaker side and needed some help so US armies and troops helped out a bit. I think that these cartoons would have helped educators understand that Hitler had power but did not have necessarily enough power. And that the Soviet Union needed help.

4. Which cartoon(s) do you find conveys its message the most effectively? Why?
I really think that the cartoon with the skull and the Nazis flag is very powerful just because it is implying that the Germans were headed for many casualties.

1. These cartoons are all from the perspective of allied forces against the Nazis. Some of them show the Nazi's as weak and failing while some recognize that they are a threat if they beat Russia.
2. The first cartoon wants people to know what is at steak if the Nazis beat Russia, possibly causing people to fear the outcome. In the Gateway to Stalingrad the Nazi's are depicted walking into their own death, conveying that they are weak and ignorant. The third cartoon speaks a lot about denial, even though there is the possibility of Nazis winning the war people are trying to focus on the positives. The last cartoon again depicts hitler and his forces as loosing and easy to beat. Saying they will eat roast Adolf shows the Russians(and other countries) not seeing Nazis winning the war.
3.I think Americans saw the Soviet Union as avery important part of the war because is was crucial that Russia won this war because they were one of the last countries who had not been taken over. The cartoons showed that to the Americans and could have scared them, but also depicted that is was very likely Russia would win.
4.I think the good news bad news cartoon does the best job because it shows both sides, that the Nazis could win but also that there is hope of them loosing.

1. These cartoons are more similar than different in my opinion because physically, they are all black and white and contain a swastika, while they also display messages of anti-Nazi beliefs. The only difference in my opinion is the small differences in what it is about anti-Nazi beliefs that they are trying to display.
2. I think that the message of each cartoon is to try and show that the Nazi party is not good and countries need to work together to defeat them, like the Soviet Union is trying to do.
3. I bet the American's did not fully understand that the Soviet Union struggled and that they needed to take down the Nazi party, but I'm sure these cartoons helped the American's better understand what the Nazi party was trying to do and the importance of each country and person.

All my stuff deleted so this is what I was able to make up.

Some of them are more morbid such as the Fitzpatrick cartoons, but the Dr. Seuss ones seem to be more light.

What is the message of each cartoon?

They're Serving Roast Adolf at Joe's House Tonight, I think portrays how Russia was crushing them in the war. The pig has a German Military hat on and is called Hitler while the man named Uncle Joe is Stalin because his real name is Joseph. The other Dr. Seuss one gave some bad information, but also some good information. It was with a cartoon bird, so I think he was trying to make it a little comical so it wasn't so heavy.
Gateway to Stalingrad shows the Nazi army marching into a skull. Its message is that when the Germans go to Stalingrad, they are just marching towards death.

What do you think the average American understood about Soviet Union’s role in the war?

1. All of these relate to the battles in the Soviet Union and hatred of the Nazis , but the first two are dark and scarier. The first one shows the fear that the Soviets might be defeated, and then all of the other countries Hitler tries to invade, "one by one". The second one shows German soldiers walking to their death, still a morbid depiction, but with the battles having the opposite result than the first one. The third one is more informative than the others, and the fourth predicts an easy win for "Joe" and the Soviets against Germany.
2. I think the message of the first is how greatly important a victory against the Nazis would be, the second means Germany is going to be crushed at the battles at Stalingrad, the third is informative for American citizens, and the fourth is comical and predicts that the Soviets will win easil
3. Based on these cartoons, I think the average American was unaware of how badly the Soviets struggled in the beginning of the battles. However, I think they are good because they educate Americans on the importance of the fights and their impact on the rest of the war and Nazi rule.
4. I think the first one is the most important because it emphasizes the significance of the battles and the possible consequences if the Soviets don't prevail over the Nazis.

The second one shows that the deeper the nazis descend into Russia, the more they will be fighting their deaths. the third one shows that with every defeat to the Russians there is an advance or help made by one of the allies. The final one shows that Russia will soon overpower Hitler.
3.Most americans would probably assume Russia as a week power due to their performance in WW1, but these cartoons show that they are actually faring fairly well and charging towards a victory.
4. I think the 2nd one conveys its idea the best because it clearly shows the nazis and their impending defeat

They are different because some show the defeat of the Nazi's but also the success of the Nazi germans.
2. The first cartoons message is displaying that one by one the Nazi's are killing the Russians one by one and Russia won't stop till their last man isn't or is standing. The second picture displays that the nazis are on their way to death by entering Stalingard. Its expressing that it will be a hard battle to fight for them and they are basically on a suicide mission. The third one i believe represents a clear view on whats good and whats bad.
