Throughout the movie Claire is shown to be the most wealthy from the group of 5 and is seen wearing the most expensive pieces of clothing.A connection to people today is that many people tend to want to buy clothing more expensive and high up just to say they own clothing from that brand and look their best.

Allison is sought out to be the most introverted character in the film, she faces neglect from her family. Allison is desperate to be heard by someone, so she does anything just to be heard by anyone. In real life students at school may feel the same and this can be unhealthy to one by introducing a depressive state mentally.

Brian is seen as an intelligent, down to earth being. He uses his knowledge to his advantage. He seeks to strive with success in everything he does but still feels pressure to succeed from both his family and school grades. Brian displays that though everything may be working well and he is academically accepted the urge to be perfect is constant and even the smallest hiccups such as a bad grade can get to ones head.

Jon suffers problems mainly with his father and is treated poorly at home, though he seems rude and reckless he begins to show that his heart is still full of gold. A connection to the real world is that due to problems at home students may find themselves exploiting their anger or frustrations towards other peers or teachers.
