I have explored Discovery Education and loved the resources I can use for virtual fieldtrips. We are currently in a reading module all about drama/plays so I will definitely be using the virtual fieldtrip to the Ford theatre this week!

I use discovery education all the time in my history class! They have access to so much material that we simply don’t have in studies weekly. It’s even easier to use when differentiating since it has all grade levels available.

I used a video clip from Discovery Education to compare and contrast Paul Revere's Midnight Ride to the "actual" story. My students really enjoyed this lesson because they did not realize that sometimes historical stories contain inaccuracies that we have to consider.

During the DDE (Developing Distinguished Educators) training, teachers used the AEIOU instructional strategy when watching a video about explicit instruction for classroom management. All grade levels can use this strategy to engage students when watching videos from the curriculum.

I had never used Discovery Education. I was struggling to find resources specifically for Texas history, but then I found that D.E. can create puzzles and crosswords for you! I entered our vocabulary terms from this unit and had it create a crossword puzzle. Students will do the crossword as an extension activity after taking their quiz this week.

I love to use Discovery Education videos for Social Studies. It is a great resource that helps students visualize the events of our history.
