we call the indigenous people mi'kmaq we call them the mi'kmaq because they are the founding people in nova Scotia and they call themselves the first nation people!

we mostly call the Gaelic people that came her from Scotland Gael, Irish and Scots. They are called Gaels because they speak Gaelic.

Talk about why the two groups may have been suspicious of each other.

Hannah: The Mi’kmaq were suspicious because since the British and Gaels sounded and looked somewhat familiar, they could also be dangerous and unfriendly. The Geals could've been suspicious because the Mi’kmaq were not communicating with them.

The Gaels referred to the Mi'Kmaq as Indians. Why was this? The Gaels are often referred to simply as "Scots". Discuss the difficulty in this and the importance of referring to people by nicknames, etc.

Because early European explorers thought they were in India when they were truly in North America. The Geals were called “Scots” because they came from Scotland. I think that people shouldn't call other people by where they are from, as some may not be from that place anyways.
