Michelle Thew, CEO of Cruelty Free International, said: “Harming and killing dogs for the purpose of veterinary training is a cruel, unethical and outdated practice. Many leading veterinary schools no longer deliberately harm or kill dogs to train vets. There are credible and effective alternatives that can be used. We urge Japan to follow their example and end the cruel practice of using and killing live dogs for teaching and surgery practice.”

I always thought that Japan treated dogs well, especially because we all watched the movie Hachiko. But now I’m surprised and sad to learn about how dogs are used in veterinary schools.I think using live dogs for veterinary training is very cruel. If my pet were treated this way, I would feel very sad and angry. Animals feel pain just like humans, so they should not suffer for education.

I think using dogs in veterinary training should be done very carefully. It is important for students to learn , but people shouldn't hurt animals. If my pet was used and got scared or hurt, I would very sad. Today, there are better ways to learn, like computer programs, fake animals and 3D glasses. So, I believe we should safer methods.

Using animal for surgery is not necessary because there are many alternative in todays modern world. 3D models and similators are better for this. If i see these animals i want to protect all of them actually everyone have to protect because they cant defend themselves .- Ayşe Tuğba

İ think if scientists do this they can find necessity in science also in my opinion they take street dogs which walking without dog collar

Of course it is cruelly but it is for the experiences

To prevent this from happening i will buy dog collar and create good conditions for it doesn't matter what animal will it

Certainly there are alternative but sometimes need to be prepared when you will do real operation it helps be coldblooded

I think this veterinary training is completely wrong. Animals are alive and it is inhumane to treat them like this. I would feel bad if this was done to any animal and I would not give my own dog such training. Alternatively, other ways should be found. Anything that will cause harm should be avoided.

i think that use of animals is necessary for scientific education but conditions and treatment toward them must be improved. there are better ways and they should be used. dogs are part of our future and we must protect them. countries that implement such practices should restriction and those who serve the system should be boycotted.

I think use of dogs in veterinary training is cruel.Dogs shouldn't use for science because they are also live and innocent. Japan use for veterinary training this is a bad idea. Animals are silent live. I definitely don't think it's right. Maybe 3d can be used instead. Don't touch animals.

We watch about using animals for science thanks to izel hoca and I become more aware using animal for science.Despite the ever-changing and developing technology, it is truly selfish and degrading to still use dogs as test subjects and ignore their right to life.

I believe that the use of dogs in veterinary training raises critical ethical concerns. While practical education is so essential for future veterinarians ,it should not come at the cost of animal suffering. Likewise,animals are a part of our lives and they are precious beings. We must respect and help them. Also, this purpose is unnecessary in today's world. Modern alternatives such as simulations or 3D models are improved.These methods can provide effective education for learners without causing harm. Therefore, many veterinary schools around the world must stop using live dogs in harmful veterinary training practises, and learning should never come at the cost of cruelty.
