When working in a setting it is important as the EYP to help children prepare for school as this is not just making sure that they can read and write it also includes they social and emotional development. so you can do this by making sure that the transition is as smoothly as it can be, so this is making sure that the children are confident to manage with how different school is going be compared to preschool. When you are supporting children to prepare them for school they are different things that you can do to help them, some of these are listen to the children, encourage them to talk, recognise their individual needs, reassure children that you are there for them, show them respect, plan carefully for transition, offer them support, organise some fun sessions at the setting and also let them visit the primary school.

When you are preparing children for school you have to got to make sure that you listen carefully to the children this is so you can find out how the child is feeling about this new adventure and hep them with their feelings this can be by doing activities within the setting that helps them understand that what they are feeling it is normal too feel like that about new adventures and how the feel about making new friends. when helping children for school it is important that you recognise their individual needs as a child could suffer from anxiety and making attachments so it is important that you support them and don't just leave them as this will maker them worse.

It is important that as an EYP that if they are delays in children's development that you spot this can put the support in place before they start school.
So if they are delays in children's development you can refer to other professionals/organisations but they are strengths and weakness to this the strength is they are provide early intervention in supporting the child's individual needs. but a weakness to this can be Having to relay on communication and also they might not be enough information to get support to help their child. To help children with activities for example singing songs if a child has a delay in tier language development and cant keep up with singing you can help they children by showing them a picture card so they know what is coming up next in the song . they are positive and weakness to this, a positive is it helps the children to make links between real life and visual. a weakness to this is they children that don't have a delay might get distracted by the picture cards and say they wrong words that are next in the song and then they children that do have a delay are going to get confused as they children are singing different words to the picture that is on the cards.

An EYP's role for preparing children for school can be to provide opportunities for children to express and gain understanding of their own self identity and worth. they are different ways a practitioner can do this one of the ways this is to celebrate different cultures involve all children so they will gain an understanding of the world so to help them do this a practitioner can plan different activities around some cultures to engage the individual needs of the children. they can be positives and weakness to this, the positives are they are gaining an understanding of children's background cultures and their likes, dislikes and interests. but they can also be a weakness to this and that is parents might not be open to their children learning about other cultures and religions. another way a practitioner can provide opportunities for children to express and gain opportunities of their own self identity and worth is by planning and leading an activity for children to work in a group so you can model what you want the the child to do, provide equal opportunities for all children, share resources and allow children to have an input again this can have positives and weakness. the weakness can be that not all children have that social development to be able to work in groups with other children. a positives can be that it is teaching children that they are different ways to learn for example group work.
Linkedin(2016)

The Benefits of Children Working in Groups(online) available at https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/benefits-children-working-groups-samsidh-mount-litera-zee-school (Accessed 15/10/2018)

As an EYP when you are working with children in pre school you are going to be helping prepare them for going to school you can do this by having circle time how this is going to help them with school readiness is because by doing circle time you are providing a safe and enabling environment as the environment is going to be clam and quiet. this can have positives but it can also have weakness, the positives are children with autism like to have the own space and buy having these enabling environments it allows them to have theses. Circle time is also going to develop a child emotional and cognitive development as you can ask them how the instruments make them feel and see if they can find out different ways to hit it to see if it makes a different sound. by doing circle time this is also providing the children resources so this can be things like puppets, music and instruments. they are positives and weakness to this, the weakness is a child may have autism and their ears are sensitive to loud noises and they may not have them social skills to join in with a group. A positive to this is children are going to increase all areas of development as the join in circle time.
