Building Connections and Growth in Music: My Journey Over the Last Year

The past year has been a period of incredible growth, learning, and collaboration in my musical journey. Moving to Guadalajara to study at Amerike has opened countless opportunities, allowing me to connect with talented people and immerse myself deeply in the local music scene.

Collaborations and Musical Projects

One of the most important connections I’ve made recently is with Juan Pablo Aroutine, luthier and founder of Aroutine Guitars. Meeting him not only expanded my understanding of craftsmanship and instrument building but also led me to join Casco Central, my current main project and band.

Since joining Casco Central, we’ve had the chance to perform at several notable venues and events, including The Basement, El Grande Fest, and Mt. Morelos. These experiences have helped us build a solid presence in the Guadalajara scene and connect with other local bands such as Disidente, Montenegro, Alba, and Dilucirama.

Building a Studio and Expanding Knowledge

Through Casco Central, I also met Fer, our drummer, who shares my passion for vintage instruments. Together, we are currently working on setting up our own recording studio, a project that combines our technical interests and artistic vision. This experience has taught me a lot about studio logistics, sound design, and the importance of creating a space that inspires creativity.

Our shared enthusiasm for vintage gear has also introduced us to several guitar technicians working with major bands such as Enjambre and Los Bunkers. Thanks to Noah, Enjambre’s guitar tech, I even managed to get passes for their upcoming concert — an exciting opportunity to experience their show and get a date with a morrita who is a big fan of Enjambre.

Networking and Future Plans

Beyond these collaborations, Amerike has been a key part of my development — not just academically, but as a network hub for musicians. I’ve connected with several classmates, including Lares, Maginnis, and Jason, with whom I’m currently forming a new band project. It’s exciting to collaborate with friends who share the same drive and passion for creating original music.
