So-called “citizen journalism” has exploded as smartphones, glasses-based cameras, and other tools make it easier for average people to report breaking news. What are some of the positives and negatives with citizen journalism? Write at least 2 paragraphs. Cite evidences from the video and other sources.

In this video, it talked about how the news isn't always right. We can't always trust the sources we use. We must be careful in what we read or hear because we could be spreading false news. Considering the fact that only a few decades we began having different places to find sources. It's very easy for everyone to become (in a way) journalists. We can have our own blog or website and say whatever we'd like. However, we'd not only be biased but we wouldn't always have correct information. A positive about citizen journalism is that we have this voice and are able to put out information to someone who can easily reach it.

To have accurate information, it is best to find the original piece of the story and judge for yourself. For rallies or any big events happening, following reporters, on social media, who are actually there is the best source. They will have live videos on the action and not filter anything. If you want updates on a kidnapping, natural disaster, or robbery, it is best to check updates after an hour or so. Things change every second and the news will change with every piece of information they receive. (Source: TEDEd)

I really agree that the internet can be very misleading however it's up to us to find out what's real and what isn't. It's very important to keep up with what's going on in the world and it can be hard to know what's actually real. That's why we must learn.

According to this video, every information you see or here might not all be believable because a lot of people like to put fraudulent information out on the world. Citizen journalism is the collection, dissemination, and analysis of news and information by the general public. A positive of citizen journalism is that it is really not difficult to become a reporter you just have to have a social media account, a blog or make an online video. A negative about citizen journalism is that biased information is so easily found on a reporter's work. According to the video, one of the best ways to get accurate news is to get the original news unfiltered by middlemen. For current events you should follow the reporter on social media. You should not tune in to news in real time when the news is chaotic because it could lead to misleading information. Tuning into various sources and noting the differences let's you put the pieces together for a more complete picture.

This video talks about the different types of information you hear or see may not always turn out to be true such as; in magazines, new papers, or even television. which leads up to people spreading news that may not even be true. Now a day it's not hard at all to join the industry of journalism for example, all you really need is to have your own blog or website in which you could say whatever you're pleased to say. The difference between the positive citizen and the negative citizen journalism is that, the positive citizen journalism is based upon our voice we are able to give out information to anyone who can be reached. Meanwhile the negative journalism is mainly about the how the reporter and the work they give and information they give out . This video also talked about how we should just get the news by the original news or even follow the reporter on his/hers social media makes everything more realistic. I feel like we are some how brained washed on everything that is around us we could and would believe anything we see on social media or the news because we expect it to all be real since its "keeping us up to date" but sometimes we just have to realize
that not everything we hear to see its true so we as curios people have to find out for our self and double check just in case.

On the video it demonstrates us how news have been spreader throughout time. As news keep spreading the details may change and misunderstood, so not everything you read is true. Anyone can be a part of citizen journalism as social media is quickly spreading and anyone can start a rumor such as tabloids and reality television. In the video it explains to us to do some research on the current news to make sure it is actually true before continuing the story. The positive side of citizen journalism is that everyone can express their beliefs and opinions to relate to others if there is a positive there are also negatives to a situation. As stated in the positives ANYONE can start news which may lead to false advertising and the ones that start false news may be only doing it for publicity and money. So be sure to know the sources you are reading off to know the complete story.

Journalism has evolved with time. With the advance of technology, now is easier to read magazines or newspapers but so is trick people with fake news. The video give us an introduction of how journalism had change and most important, the way some call "journalist" public on intenert fake news. We have to be alert in any time and don't believe all the news or articles that we read on web pages or even though on television, you don't know when the new is real or no.
So, "citizen journalism" has helped alot, but like all the things in this world, it has advantages and disadvantages. Some advantages of this "citizen journalism" is the way they communicate the news. They use internet, and some of them have their own blogs where they publish the news. So, for us, its easier to be informate of what is happening aroud us, because we all know, that internet, is faster and easier to use, with just one click we're already reading or watching the new.
A disadvantage of this "citizen journalism" is that not everybody is providing the right news, some of them are just trying to spread a new as a joke, and sometimes, depending on how serious is the "joke", it can scare people. Also, we don't know if the source that we're using is real or the new that we're reading is true and that's a big problem, because when we read a new the first thing we, as humans so, is talk with other people about it.
In conclussion, we should not believe all the things that we read on social media, we have to be really carefull and always have our eyes open to everything we are watching or reading.

As citizen journalism has its positive effects, it also has its negative disadvantages. One of the main advantages of technology is that it is easier for people to be aware of what is happening, not only in their community, but in other parts of the world, no matter the distance. Technology has facilitated the access to the news, whether it is from a smartphone or a computer at work. It is no longer just paper based. There are even apps that by just one click, they can read any news they would like. Through citizen journalism, we know about how others feel about certain events occurring. However, there is also a negative aspect to citizen journalism. Citizen journalism tends to be very biased and not very factual. Therefore, it is not a reliable source, putting in doubt the truth because the audience does not know what to believe.

Sources are becoming dependent of other sources and etc, meaning that we cant trust all the sources that we see.In a digital world with a whole host of different ways to communicate a factual message it is increasingly hard to judge the value of amateur eyewitness film shot on a mobile phone and posted on the internet against a considered, observational documentary broadcast on a traditional television channel, meaning that there is a lot of inaccurate and accurate sources to be based upon. The News keeps changing and people distort it and nobody knows the real truth at the end.

Citizen Journalism is collecting information that takes many forms such as text, pictures, or video. Technology such as the Internet gave people the ability to transmit information in a global scale. Citizen Journalism provides many perspectives, it makes people engaged regarding certain issues that can affect their own lives in a positive in a negative way, and it is a way for ordinary citizens to assist professional journalists about current events.

However, there are disadvantages to citizen journalism, such as bias reporting. Citizen journalists are considered bias at some point and are not capable of providing credible information to the public. They do not have training on libel law, which can affect an investigation and give problems for the wrongfully accused. Citizen Journalists often overlook copyright laws, such as failing to identify some of the content without the consent of the copyright owners. Citizen Journalists simply do not have the training, unlike professional journalists, therefore making certain resources questionable, in effect makes the public question whether the information that we see and read is credible and legitimate, or being unreliable.

Todays advancement in technology has given a chance to those who are extremely busy to stay informed with everything going on in todays world, and everything surrounding them. Without the existence of smart phones, glass-based cameras, laptops, and etc. Most business men, doctors, or even people invloved with the law, probably would not have the time to go out and search for magazines, the daily/times/world newspaper, or be at home in time for the tv networks where the newscaster delievers news at the same exact time every evening.

It became a problem as mass media spread... Scandals begun and proved that democratic goverments were misleading those who were watching often with media corruption. Things in which were presenetd by the mainstream sources, lead the people to feel unsafe with the security the country held. The internet has increased the chance for any citizen to become a news reporter given to us by social media and blogs. Which has lead to the next problem, who is saying the truth, no one can differe the false reporters from the truth ones. Thankfully, we have daily news where the newscasters also have social media in which they can report the news which were reported in the daily news.

The only negative thing which is coming from having so much technology is the fact that anyone can put a front and consider themselves an offical news reporter and give out false information with false sources. Though, that is why through social media there is "verification" and offical reporters will be verified.

Source: TEDEd https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-Y-z6HmRgI

Citizen journalism has its positive effects, but every good had its bad. The main advantage in the all of the new technology is being able to keep up with everything going on in the world as it is happening. People are constantly tweeting and instreaming all kinds of things, helping us stay up to date. Smartphones, computers, and smart glasses have made newspapers and magazines irrelevant to the people in today’s society. Along with all of the positive, is the negative. A lot of the information put out into social media by citizen journalism can be false or inaccurate. Many blogs and websites will publish false material just to get attention and this leads people to believe what they are publishing. People need to make sure what they are reading is something that more than one person has written about and may even have similar information. By doing this, you will be correctly informed and updated. b_

We have to be careful in what we read from the internet, magazines, news papers and other things. We can write about things we want but with the correct information.

Citizen journalism has given ordinary people a voice and the ability to express their opinion publicly regarding crucial events that take place on an everyday basis. This privilege has become more and more accessible thanks to never-ending advances in technology.
Citizen journalism undoubtedly has both positives and negatives. Regular citizens could provide point of views and first-hand information that are not always available from world renown organizations. The lack of competition, worry about political interference and alteration of information gives citizen journalism a sense of true, genuine journalism. However, not all citizens have 100% credibility and accuracy. Ordinary people could sometimes be biased and may not always provide dependable information.

Due to the inconsistency of the internet, television or magazines, we have to be careful in what we see or read. Many individuals tend to put out false information to put a rise out of themselves.

Citizen journalism seems to be considered a hindrance by many however welcomed by many others. Citizen journalism can be considered raw and uncensored however this could not be portrayed to the public with the skill of a professional. Some consider the practicality of it serves journalism for the better rather than for the worse whereas some see it as a threat to the media and their future. Some believe that they have a future hand in hand so it is vital to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of citizen journalism to analyse how it has changed and will continue to develop in the future.
The issue with citizen journalism is the professionalism of it but as states it depends on the person and believes it is an issue with professional journalists too. It is argued that for a good story a journalist needs the skills they could only acquire with training however that is not to say that an ordinary person is not capable of objectively telling us the story. For many, citizen journalism isn’t even an attempt at bettering the media, but simply aiding it to report to the mass media or just to get their opinion out on a public scale and as this is the case it makes the material a good read but also one that is looked at with a great skepticism as a big problem with it seems to be checking the facts.

Over a past few decades, the news was broad-based and limited which made it difficult for people to read a variety of sources with different perspectives of a story and were unable to know the full coverage due to the government's censorship. However, as the years passed by, technology help revolutionized news by having access to television, social media, smartphones, etc. This made it easier for anybody to be aware what is going around the world, not just in their community. Due to easy access to technology, anybody can become a journalist. There are advantages and disadvantages of being a citizen journalist. For starters, citizen journalist can provide the community different perspectives and makes the coverage of events possible that mainstream media might otherwise have miss. For example, the mainstream media might cover a small portion of the presidential election stating that Hillary Clinton won, without providing an explanation behind it. A citizen journalist may cover the same story, but provides a different perspective and explanation behind the chosen candidate that have won. Additionally, they have easy access to current events. However, citizen journalist may be biased on what they’re reporting because they don’t have the proper training how to handle certain situation which lead to factual inaccuracies and a lack of impartiality. It poses difficulties to the audience about what to believe. This is why the audience should research the story from variety of sources before sharing to their family and friends. They need to make sure that the information they’re reading is accurate and have the correct sources to provide it. They should also judge for themselves whether or not the information that they’re reading is accurate.

There are considered to be many pros to citizen journalism but the most important probably have to be that it adds a wider berth and colour as it collates information that would not have been placed into the public eye otherwise This can be through a poll, blog or comment, this gives a story a multifaceted view rather than that of the journalist who wrote it. a journalist needs the skills they could only acquire with training however that is not to say that an ordinary person is not capable of objectively telling us the story. Now, in some aspects this can be seen as positive. With more and more people yearning to be apart of news they tend to spread very serious and important stories to the lesser informed. In addition, due to new technology many businesses, small and large alike, are capable of spreading their information to reach out to a bigger audience.
As for the negatives, once someone introduces a story they must give unbiased information in order to keep the community well-informed, but many don't do that. Many find that they must place their own opinions within the story and state them as facts. This leads to confused and misinformed citizens. This also leads to a wide range of controversy to certain topics.

Citizen journalism can be a blessing and a curse because it does keep us updated from second to second. We rarely miss a thing, and we get the news as it happens. We also get eye witness experiences. Today anyone can be a reporter as long as you have a smartphone.

The curse is that it takes away from the actual reporters who go to school to master this profession. It takes away from the credibility of the actual news reporters because the "citizens" were there before the reporter. it takes away the purpose of the job

Like all things in life, citizen journalism has its pros and cons. Technology may not be as positive as you think. However, if you utilize it correctly it allows us to advance in our knowledge, technique and much more. For example, it allows us to spread and acknowledge news around the world better than before. It as well allows us the people to express our opinions whether it is bias or not. If we are informed then we have the opportunity to let others know.

Even though it has pros, let us not forget about the cons. In the constitution it is stated that we the people have freedom of speech. As well as the first amendment is freedom of speech, and freedom of the press. Now yes, I do believe that anyone can express the way they feel. However, there are ways to express your opinions. It is not necessary to through trash and shade at others. Which is what the press does. The bring out negative messages into publicity which I strongly disagree on.

Citizen Journalism is based upon public citizens playing an active role in the process of collecting, reporting and spreading news. It has its pros and cons. A Pro is that you can get news out to everyone really fast. Nowadays just about everyone can write a news story and publish it. It's a good outlet for people to inform others about what is going on. It reaches a larger audience, anyone in the world can see what you blog about. A con about Citizen journalism is that the information or the so called "news" they're reporting could be completely false. It's very important to know that where you're getting your news from is a reliable source. All in all citizen journalism is a great gateway for people all over the world to share their news or experiences from wherever they are.

It is positive because it makes it easier to report news that is happening right in front of us. Technology makes it faster the news to travel quicker. Citizen Journalism is when private individuals do what professional reporters do. The involvement of technology can help spread out to other sources. We must not always lean on and trust sources because we could be getting false advertisement, we have to learn to differentiate between erroneous and correct information.

Though it seems as if there are more cons to this subject, it is the truth. They can have either a positive or negative point of view on the subject. When the news somehow float to the mainstream we sometimes not receive all of the facts but as their personal view. We must be aware as well as careful in what we read or hear because we could be getting false information do to the sources feeling towards it.
As an event occurs the media seems to instantly jump on it. They tell others about without knowing the full facts an sometimes it has happened where the information is false. Today's society is no doubt the most dependent upon our media sources. Citizens drop everything in case of chaos, not to help but to get a good view of the incident.
On the other hand what I personally like citizen journalism its that it allows us to express our opinions on the news or events.

How informed an individual is is what leads to how good or bad the news is.

Citizen Journalism ranges very broadly now that journalists have access to sources around them such as social media. Back when the society didn't have any technology to use, journalists would get their news from seeing the events occur right on the spot causing the news to be much more factual.

The positive aspect on citizen journalism is that their is actually citizen journalists who are dedicated and they give the correct information to others in the society because they just enjoy what they do. Almost everything has it's pros and cons. The con of citizen journalism is that others do it just for publicity by spreading false information about the society or "events" that really didn't occur. As discussed in the video, the news could provide viewers with inaccurate information when multiple events occur all at once which is something i was not aware of.

One of the things this video taught me was that sometimes we use false sources without noticing. We have to be very careful on what we read. Especially Online, People on social media change everything now days. It's okay if you are sharing the right information. If you are sharing false things then that can cause you or anyone problems.

Citizen Journalism is so different now days then before. The reason why it's because technology keeps expanding. Without technology we aren't able to be informed about what's going on in the world. One of the positive sides of this is that people get to express themselves like never before without no one telling them what to do. Every good has it's bad. Always be careful what you read, see or post.

This video talks about Citizen Journalism, which basically means social media. It talked about how back in the days when society didn't have technology to use, the journalist will get the news from what they see in that actual spot. They didn't have Internet to find information about a certain cause or event. This made the jobs of journalist extremely dangerous.

This video also talked about how some information you hear or read may turn out to be not true. We cant always trust what we hear or read. Usually, when people read information the tend to spread the word. This could cause harm to others because all the information you may not always be true. We just have to be careful and not trust all the sources. Sometimes to know the truth you have to read the news feedback. Which could help you out, to see if its true or not.

Not all sources can be credible. Citizen journalism is the general public's information about any news they chose to write or tell to the general public. With the advencement of the internet, people (general public) can now connect to others and also spread news about any topic they please. But there's also a positive and negative side to citizen journalism. The positive affect of this is that news is spread faster and quicker. The population is more informed. News now does not have to be on paper and is now accessible to anyone with an electronic device.
The negitive aspect of citizen journalism can be that the news is not credible. The writer can write false infomation giving the general public, "false advertisement." There may not be enough time for the information given to be thoroughly guarenteed thus leaving the public misinformed. With the progession of technology, people are allowed to give their biase or unbiased opinion about the topic in question giving others falsified or honest information. Because technology is now accessible to everyone, it can cause a range of controversy making it difficut to depict if the information is accurate or just opiniated.

Today's technology gives busy people the opportunity to stay up to date with the news. Whether it is today's news, or yesterday's. They have the chance to stay aware about their surroundings. Without all the smart technology, whether it Is smartphones or laptops, many people will be lost. Many people do not have the time nor the access to go out and buy newspaper on a daily basis or a t.v at home to watch the news on air.

On the negative side, people will, are, and have considered themselves certified and official news reporters. This will cause for people to be informed with false information and by false sources. Thankfully, social media provides the verification sign.

With everyone being able to obtain technology "citizen journalism" has exploded. Everyone around the world is now reporting breaking news. This video explained the different types of information you hear or see may be misleading. Examples are magazines, news papers, and t.v. due to the fact they they are willing to say extreme things and take news out of context to get the peoples attention.
Citizen journalism has negative and positive affects. The bad thing about it is that anyone can easily post an article that is false and incorrect or even bias in his or her own opinion. However the good thing about citizen journalism is that we can receive information even faster from our friends on social media. Most importantly we get to see behind the scenes, citizens could post anything without any restriction from a news paper company which will make their report more honest.
Source: TEDed
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-Y-z6HmRgI

Therefore many information and news you get off the internet can be incorrect or just expressed opinions about the occurrence.

You have to be very careful when it comes to this type of journalism.Make sure you are reading upon the right sources and sites. Citizen journalism has its pros and con. one pro is that you receive information much quicker. On the other hand like I said before many information online can be in accurate , and thats one of the cons. Thankfully now its more accurate who are actual reporter on social media with specific little marks appearing next to the username.
https://youtu.be/q-Y-z6HmRgI

Citizen Journalism today has extended because of the use of technology. Many people feel that to create and spread stories in the public makes them informed citizens. Everything has its positive and negative such as citizen journalism. The negative journalism is mainly about the how the reporter and the work they give and information they give out. They give out more information and extra than the actual reporter that was there at the place. Also, due to the inconsistency of the internet, television or magazines, we have to be careful in what we see or read. This made it easier for anybody to be aware what is going around the world, not just in their community. The nonexistence of competition, worry about political interference and alteration of information gives citizen journalism a sense of true, genuine journalism. It talked about how the news isn't always right. We can't always trust the sources we use. We must be careful in what we read or hear because we could be spreading false news.

What we call Citizen Journalism, is not the same thing we know the day of today. Citizen Journalism, now a days is focused many false information. Technology has extended our access to news to a whole other level. Causing many of the citizens not to know or be informed of whats really happening around the world. Its also being said that many people have considered themselves certified and official news reporters. Which has caused more then just false information and false sources to be put out in the public. Those who are not certified should not have access to the journalism world.
Things in which were presented by the mainstream sources, lead the people to feel unsafe with the security the country held. The internet has increased the chance for any citizen to become a news reporter given to us by social media and blogs. Which has lead to the next problem, who is saying the truth, no one can differ the false reporters from the truth ones. Thankfully, we have daily news where the newscasters also have social media in which they can report the news which were reported in the daily news.

It is considered as a positive connotation because it allows the public to express their opinions. Which known as freedom of speech. Citizens as well help others find out news others have not heard of.

The negative connotation is not knowing when to stop. Not only because people are constantly on their phones, but because people are the ones spreading the news. Being a citizen journalist has its advantages and disadvantages. The funny thing is that people do not realize that they are citizen journalists.

It is a good thing because news travel quickly. The quicker we know, the better.

As within the realms of science, new realities such as technology and easy distribution of information and its effect on journalism doesn’t always provide the positive results intended of it. In this unique era of increased involvement of the people in the news industry and the loss of the grip the major organizations once had on the flow of information has led to many interesting results, often revealing more about our own nature. The world while in general has become able to become acquainted with various events around the globe, citizen journalism also serves to open new communities of thought, especially online. People seek comfort in their ideas and views, and with the psychological phenomena known as confirmation bias, much of the information today has become filtered or seen from one angle to fulfill the opinions of distinct audiences and their interests.

Citizen journalism has provided the means to create various independent news organizations, blogs and online news forums. Citizen journalism also allowed real time access to events due to its unique quality of anyone being a source. However, such as with censorship and deception by government on news in the past; the bias and agendas of today allow rumours to run rampant and polarizations of thought to make entire groups of people to view something in a particular fashion. However, this is not reflective of true journalism; it is merely the consequence of individuals or groups seeking to drag others into their narrow perceptions and thus divide us further. This new aspect of journalism is exciting as we can see the world from many angles, the only issue is when people only view it from one.

The participation of citizen journalism in a new globalized world is invaluable. Never before have people been so involved in news and it is quite a good thing. However, one must remember, wherever there is a unique audience to tend to, so will information be molded to fit to them. One can say that perhaps people are not ready for such a plethora of information, and the mental limitations that humanity shares, impart no other alternative but to listen to narratives from various news outlets. Now no matter the constrictions of information, it is up to individuals to bear the responsibility to actively seek information from various sources and form one’s own truth in a world seeking to feed everyone the same thing.
