the central ideas of this text were struggle can influence relationship and true identity of native Americans. These central ideas are developed throughout the story artist Illuminates Native American History with family photos by Corrine Segal. Dorame says " I think because we don't have reservation land, we're kind of a splintered group." Since they do not have there own land to call home to them it makes it harder for them to maintain there relationship, they should have there own land because that is part of there native american identity. Dorame also talks about how people made up there own image of what native Americans look like. People are taking it upon themselves on how they remember the natives although its not how it actually was. They should be remembered how they truly were and i can see how this is hard for them and could cause a struggle in the native american culture. This is not there true identity and how they are being pictured is not how it was back then. Dorame wants people to know the tribe and people of it still exist, she wants them to see the struggles they went through to be the tribe they are. She wants people to see them for how they are. She wants them to see the true identity of native american tribes.

In the text Grandma Turtle by Robert Frances there are two main central ideas developed. These ideas are they believe in high powers and they honor life. These are shown throughout the text. The animals had troubles with over populating and needed more land, so they prayed to grandfather above. They honor life and want to live on and think that grandfather can help since he is a higher power. The animals needed mud from the bottom of the ocean but didn't know who to send to go get it. When grandma turtle volunteered they automatically thought no. They could not loose a life as precious as hers, she means far more then one of the other animals. Grandma had eventually went down in search of mud. She never returned but her body did. The animals had gathered and honored the life they have lost. Her life was a big loss to the animals. The mud had rose and they were able to get mud.
