Sometimes it might be more vague about a source which makes it a little bit questionable, but for the most part it does list sources to quotes, facts, etc.

AP News - AP News is also a verifiable news source. It gives credit and sources to the evidence, quotes and facts it includes in its stories.

Both of these sources also include bylines and information about the authors, as well as informational pages about the organizations.

Fox News Visual 1

In this article Fox News doesn't just give a broad overview of Hurricane Helene, it focuses in on the specific fact that "Hurricane Helene’s deadly flooding in western North Carolina disrupted the underground nests of stinging insects, causing them to swarm workers and residents trying to recover from the storm.

The surge of stings from yellow jackets, bees and other insects has prompted the state health department to buy Benadryl and epinephrine injections as aid groups also work to acquire the medications and get them to those in the affected areas."

Fox News Visual 2

This article's photographs and the wording of the title and text are a good example of Fox targeting the emotional appeal of its readers. The video included in the post includes emotional testimonies from residents affected by Hurricane Helene. This article is a good example of Fox kind of storytelling with its articles, because it includes this information and quote from someone who has a tragic story to tell from Hurricane Helene, "James LaTrella told Fox News Digital he lost his house in the storm.

"Two giant oak trees fell on our house and took out the whole left side … first floor and the whole left side on the second floor," LaTrell said. "I actually got sick to my stomach while seeing that. I was in shock."

AP News Visual 1

Even though the title of this article could appeal to emotion with words like "missing" and "death toll," I view it more as stating facts and focusing on the magnitude of the situation and article. In the articles I found for my news stories log, magnitude was the second highest news driver for AP News.

AP News Visual 2

This article's title is more of an emotional appeal than the first AP News visual because it states, "...thousands still without water struggle to find enough." This article includes personal statements from people affected by Hurricane Helene as well as possible steps to take next to help aid in the recovery from Hurricane Helene.

Focus - To me, it seems that most of the time Fox News appeals more-so to emotion and writes their articles in more of a story and conversational style rather than solely stating facts. AP News also contains these things, but their focus is on delivering facts without emotional language and bias.

Conclusion - In the articles presented for the visuals, each source has a title that appeals more to emotion and one that isn't as emotional. I think overall in a comparison between Fox News and AP News, like I have stated before, to me it seems like Fox News engages their audience more commonly in an emotional way, and AP News is more straightforward. Fox News and AP News both present facts, but Fox News does so in more of a storytelling way and AP News is more clear, concise and to the point.

Both Fox News and AP News are credible sources, but Fox News is a more biased news source and it isn't an independent source, so if someone wanted to read a more neutral news story, I would point them to AP News rather than Fox News.
