This shot is a close up shot that happens around half way through the film during a scene in which Chris takes an image of Logan with the flash on, which allows Andre to have control of his body again for a little while. I found this shot really powerful as it does such an amazing job of differentiating Logan from Andre by showing their dramatically different facial expressions in great detail as his grin slowly fades. Up until this point Logan's facial expression was calm with an eerie smile, however when Chris takes the image and Andre is in control again his true feelings of distress show as well as his concern for Chris’ wellbeing urging him to get out. This shot uses the blurry background to show how separated Andre is from his surroundings and how focused he is on Chris and his determination to help him. The fact that Andre is in the centre of this shot really shows how he dominates this scene and completely changes the whole structure and calm of the party and the guests. The use of a close up here is so effective as it allows you to really see Andre’s true self without the influence of his surroundings or Logan’s clothing.
