Fourteen year olds need lots of time for physical activities for brain breaks. By this type most girls are almost fully developed and both genders are at least aware of sex. At this age, students like to work in groups and talk about current events either formally or informally. Face and body language typically say “contempt” which is common for their attitude as well. This age group also tends to be more willing to admit an error and try something more than once. They can also develop their own sense of humor and creativity.

I enjoyed this project because I feel like it gave me a chance to see how kids develop over time. I have two younger cousins, one is nine and the other is six. I have watched them grow up and I find it really cool to match up what I’ve seen in their physical, social and emotional development over the years. The two boys could not be more different so it is really cool to see how they meet these ideas in different ways. I was especially surprised by the older age group and how insecure everyone is. I don’t usually babysit or talk to middle schoolers so I found it really odd to see that age group. I was surprised by how I really did not want to teach that age group. They seem so moody and insecure and annoying. I was actually really shocked to see that I do not like that age because I thought I would.

As a future teacher I hope to be able to use this type of development to see where my students are at both inside and outside of the classroom. It is cool to see what I can expect. I really learned that I love the idea of teaching kids between ages seven to nine. I thought I liked younger kids a little more but I really liked that age group. As a future teacher I also think that I will see a lot of worried parents who are worried about how their students are developing and if I was to show them this project and help ease their minds.
