The article explores the relationship between Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3) -ensuring healthy lives and well-being for all at all ages - and Primary Health Care (PHC). It discusses the challenges and transformations required to achieve SDGs, emphasizing the systemic approach of SDGs compared to the Millennium Development Goals (Hanson et al., 2022). The World Health Organization's (WHO) focus on multisector activities for health-related SDGs is highlighted, particularly the critical role of health promotion (Hanson et al., 2022). The article uses contracted indicators, regarded as process indicators, to assess PHC contributions to SDG3 in Portugal. It delves into the trends of these indicators over the last six years, comparing results between different health facilities. The analysis underscores the importance of PHC in addressing complex health issues and reducing inequalities, emphasizing the need for continued efforts and a comprehensive understanding of SDG3's impact.
