Today's impressions are very diverse. I learnt a lot about slave trade and the fight for freedom of the slaves brought in this area. I felt a bit guilty about what white people like me have done to the black population. But, Tamara reminded me that the history of our people was equally harsh. Maybe se fie not have this kind of slavery, but the situations out ancestors eent through este equally bad(it was slavery with another name).

I know some this about slaves' history from history books, but I found out more gruesome details today. În my opinion, it is history worth remembering în order to avoid making the same mistakes.

Today i experienced the real local market and the different way of preparing food. I saw some very practical methods what we never use at home. The local people looked like used to the tourists because they knew what we are looking for and they offered different things for us than the locals.
The museum itself was very big and very modern, also inside. It took us on a tour where we could get the feeling about what is multiculturalism, how a community from different nations can live together and create their traditions, language, religion.
One highlighting point was that the hunger for money how can destroy and rebuild a whole society anywhere and how the power structures can change the world’s history. And everything is only about power and money. So like today.
I missed one point from the presentation in the museum, it was that in the old times there were the black kings who started to trade with their own habitants. It was them who sold the slaves to the white people what i think discribes properly that the scin colour does not have any effect on who we are, what we do and how we act. We are all the same and we all do bad, horrible but also good things.

Tanja Wessbecher“Every society thinks it is the centre of the world”. Travelling helps to see that in a different way. When people travel and see how things are done in other countries and/or cultures, they realize that there are different but not only right or wrong approaches. When I say “travelling” I mean the kind of travels that give you an insight in the culture of the country which can be in various ways. Are my students keen on travelling?

Probably every era in history has its own issue to overcome. Slavery must have been one of them. In the exhibition at Mémorial ACTe I have seen a summarised picture, an overall process of human trafficking. The narrative said, slavery was one of the greatest tragedies in history, with devastating effects. Plantations in Guadaloupe were cultivated by slaves...Lord of the rings come to my mind - how do we live up to power?

"like furniture" - so many impressions that I can't realize whether my head is full or empty.
Building up a strong identity as a "nation" is aggravated by the question where to start with the roots. And it could be enhanced by the common enemy. I perfectly can understand why in general Europeans are not well liked. Lucky us that there are people who go on and give each other new chances of encounter.
