         <description><![CDATA[<div>Still, it is the continued improvement of the process and methodology of knowledge production in the Natural Sciences that ensures greater reliability in outcomes, and as such, the process may be deemed more valuable than the end result. While the basic structure of the scientific method is quite constant, constant improvements within each stage, such as augmenting sense perception with technology in experiments, enable the knowledge produced to be more accurate and reliable. Although both are important in achieving the purpose of the AOK, it is only through sound process that a valid end result can be achieved. With improvements, paradigms shifts may occur to disapprove existing theories and achieve reliable end results. In 2012, scientists discovered that protons do not have to travel along hydrogen bonds, as previously believed. This discovery was made after scientists improved upon the existing experimental setup by generating a system in which two molecules were piled up on each other, with no hydrogen bonds between them. The new empirical evidence led to a paradigm shift in understanding how chemicals react. Hence, although achieving an end result allows scientists to gain new knowledge, it was the constant improvement of the process and its rigor that improves accuracy in the end result and increases confidence in the shared knowledge produced.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The natural sciences try to explain how natural phenomena works. Hence, it could be argued that from a personal knowledge perspective learning about the Natural sciences by using reason, sense perception and imagination, evident when gaining knowledge through a process, is more valuable than simply acquiring knowledge by accepting a scientific fact or end-result. Gaining procedural knowledge about the natural sciences involves the systematic process of discovery called the scientific method. By conducting an experiment that is falsifiable and rigorous, students of science gain procedural knowledge that helps us understand the complexity of the natural world and their function. For instance, in 2012 a group of girls in Sweden were interested in analyzing how Wifi radiation might affect their concentration. They followed a rigorous scientific method to test their hypothesis. They placed twelve trays with the same amount of cress seeds, cotton and sunlight (same conditions) in two different rooms. They learned to isolate variables by placing seeds in one with wifi radiation and the other without. By following a scientific method and listening to the evidence, it is often more valuable than just the end result since this process allows you to gain knowledge to investigate, improve skills, and falsify claims that are not scientific. As students of science, these girls gained procedural knowledge, such as skills in designing the experiment, taking careful measurements with precise instruments, and listening to evidence to state some justified conclusion Even though the end results were not conclusive because of the problem of induction, they proved that wifi radiation does affect plant growth, though using reason they could not state that it also affects the human concentration. The knowledge gained in the process can also be valued as they showed more investigations are needed to continue to test the hypothesis. So in evaluating this example, I can claim that if value is defined as useful, when gaining knowledge in science the process by which we state claims and investigate the natural world is more valuable than the conclusions or end results, especially when procedural knowledge is gained.</div>]]></description>

Although both are important in achieving the purpose of the AOK, it is only through sound process that a valid and accurate end result can be achieved. Oftentimes, current theories and scientific knowledge cannot prove everything within a given field of study. However, with improvements, new theories can be formed, not only to explain current phenomena, but also expand into explaining phenomena that previous scientific knowledge could not prove. This improvement in knowledge can result in paradigms shifts that result in more reliable and accurate data that can disprove existing theories and expand our knowledge. In 2012, scientists discovered that protons do not have to travel along hydrogen bonds, as previously believed. This discovery was made after scientists improved upon the existing experimental setup by generating a system in which two molecules were piled up on each other, with no hydrogen bonds between them. Previously, the experiment was conducted using molecules that contain hydrogen bonds, thus leading to scientists to the initial conclusion that protons transfer along hydrogen bonds. By removing an experimental condition which may affect the validity of results, which in this case is the presence of hydrogen bonds, new experimental data collected from this experiment can prove or disprove the current theory of knowledge. This improvement in the scientific process helped to produce a paradigm shift in the understanding of chemical reactions. Hence, although achieving an end result allows scientists to gain new knowledge, it was the constant improvement of the process and its rigour that improves accuracy in the end result and allows for the disproving of current theories to produce new knowledge which is an expansion of previous knowledge, which increases confidence in the shared knowledge produced.</div>]]></description>
