The literary works in this poem were influenced by the Great Depression that was happening in the United states at the time . The economy crashed and people were let off, they couldn’t provide for their families; no money = no food. “ So much depends upon the red wheelbarrow “, this quote says it all; the only thing left to turn to was farmers. Everyone was depending on farming.
