"I contend that..." (Cecil Rhodes). This quote intensified my views on imperialism because alongside the greed, aggression, disregard, and torture, the imperialists were extremely racist and unreasonable. They (the english) claimed that the more land they controlled, then the more advanced the world would be with more advanced people making up the population. This is very wrong because there are many types of intelligence, they focused on intelligence through technology which would limit all others. They also said that the world under one nation (themselves, the English) wouldn't have any wars. The person who wrote this might have thought this to be obvious because there are no other nations to fight, but there could still be internal conflicts and civil wars. In addition it would be near impossible to keep the whole world in check through one government. Who would be the leader? Would there be a "world leader"?

"The White Man" (David Diop) I found this quote really interesting because it is a more in depth/personal example of imperialism. I made the assumption that the quote was in the perspective of a slave, which in itself is already upsetting. It intensified my beliefs on imperialism, as this was a REAL life scenario where someone lost their entire family. This is something that could happen in such a short time as well, which makes things a lot worse looking at it from face value. Imperialism is a messed up idea to think about, especially considering this happened a lot more frequently than it does now.

One quote that I found interesting says, "When the white came to our, country, we had the land and they had a Bible, now we have the Bible and they have the land" (African Proverb) . I found this interesting or this quote intensifies my belief of imperialism because this talks about controlling the black or the white was the fault that did the imperialism. The white was racist toward the blacks because the whites took over the land of the black and all they had was the Bible. Also the white think they have power to take over the land and thinking the black were weak. It's wrong and shows how horrible the system was.

"When the whites came to our country..." This quote didn't change my belief of imperialism because as my own definition: imperialism is when a nation conquers a weaker territory, taking full control. Based on this quote, we know that at first the people of the territory (another race) owned their own land while the Whites owned the Bible. After the Whites took control of the weaker territory, they forced their religion onto the people. The people of the territory completely lost their freedom and the land they once owned, now in the hands of the Whites.

The quote said by Karl Pearson intensified my belief in imperialism. I say this because the people who did imperialism influenced others to do it. In Karl's quote, he talks about making the imperial power grow by sacrificing people from inferior races. It seems clear that they're planning to imperialize a random race just to make their power grow, and it's shown that they think it's okay. They think that its okay to sacrifice the "inferior" races since they are a "superior" race.

I find this quote interesting because it shows that imperialists don't only take peoples land, they also enforce their beliefs and religion onto the people who were originally there. This quote intensified my belief of imperialism. It intensified my belief of imperialism because I believe that imperialism is all about greed and this quote proved that. This quote talks about how the imperialists came to their country, took their land and also pushed their religion onto the people who were originally there. The imperialists couldn't let them keep anything of theirs. Not their land not their religion. The imperialists wanted all the power.

What I found interesting in the quote "When the whites came to our country..."(African proverb). I found this quote interesting because it shows me how the whites forced the people they conquer to be religious and forced them to be what they didn't want to be. However, this quote didn't change my definition of imperialism because in my own personal definition of imperialism I already had that when people conquer other lands and people they will force them into something they don't want to follow or do. The people in their land called that land their home but now they cant really call that land the whites conquered because they knew how weak they were so they decided to conquer them and force them into choices they didn't want to do.

"You cannot have.." by Joseph Chamberlain is the quote that I found interesting but it intensifies my belief of Imperialism because they are trying to have more power but can't get what they want unless they do something. They want to grow the empire more so they have to sacrifice people to get what they want. This quote used the omelets as an example because you can't make it without the eggs so if you break them then you will be able to make them like what they are doing but with people. That's what I thought of it but I still don't like the idea of Imperialism because they were trying to gain the power as well for the empire to be stronger and bigger and to have more controls too and powerful enough to conquer another places too.

He uses it to say that what they were doing was right because you can't achieve success without destroying something. My belief that imperialism is bad intensified because it was cruel to cause violence and take over countries. It relied on intimidation and force. The people suffered from the whites who imperialized.

This shows the whites didn't come to share the land or be friendly. The quote intensifies my belief of imperialism because the whites came to conquer and not be friendly. They stole the land the blacks owned. This is all the whites fault for taking the blacks land. This shows they were greedy because they could've taken land that wasn't owned. But instead they took land that was already owned and force their religion and belief onto them by giving them a Bible. They basically left the blacks with nothing.

"When the whites came to..."

This quote intensified my belief of imperialism. It shows how the even 'religious' people who believe strongly in God can abandon those beliefs when it comes to wealth. The white men show up to foreign countries with the bible to possibly spread the 'word of god' but leave land instead. They might have spread religion considering they left the bible, but that bible and religion cost the foreigners their land and freedom. Having the land gave the whites power on the people who lived there. Rather than try to spread their beliefs on religion, the whites spread their beliefs on imperialism for power and to justify their theft. The bible might have been a symbol of Christianity, but in this case it's just a tool to gain control. This strengthens my original idea of imperialism being a tactic to assert dominance, power and gain wealth.

"We feel now..-Joesph Chaimberlin"

This quote only reinforced how I felt about imperialism since I had the general idea that imperialism was a bad thing and wouldn't be good. Now with the knowledge of seeing these quotes, this quote in specific shows that some people would justify imperialism with the pursuit of well being for others. The quote also is different since for once a leader argued that it helped the future and the empire that was colonizing foreign land wasn't doing it for any selfish motive but to help the bettering of the empire itself. The quote also just shows that different leaders had completely different reasonings for conquering other lands, some did it for the well-being of the empire and the people that live in the colonizing land and others believed that their civilization was superior and needed to exterminate the other "inferior race".

"One life lost a hundred will be gained." (Joseph Chamberlain) This quote change my belief of imperialism because it shows how people sometimes can give up on something important rather trying to make that sacrifice for the people who needed. I think it is right because even though one person wants to be the one to give up everything then the sacrifice of a small number of people can lend to a much greater benefit for a larger group.

What I found interesting about the quote "The Path of Progress...", (Karl Pearson) is how Karl is justifying the use of imperialism. He states that the dead bodies of the people from "Inferior races" are a stepping stone for them to become "higher" intellectual beings and to have a "deeper" emotional life. This means that in order for him and his country to improve, people from "Inferior" races have to die. This made my belief of imperialism being bad stronger because the people who were being imperialized would be killed by the imperial powers just for them to become "better" as a human being.

They don't care because in the end those deaths won't matter and they will continue to prosper. This quote intensified my belief about imperialism because it tells me that they don't really care about the death of their soldiers as long as they win in the end they will continue to exist and prosper. This interests me because now I know imperialism had racism. This quote made my belief about imperialism stronger because this really showed a strong connection to racism which it was a lot and which meant there was a lot of sadness and pain, just because of the skin colors. This made me feel weirded out because it's really surprising to hear of torturing a young child and his family because of their skin and just to suffer in pain like hell. I know they were getting tortured top to bottom because the author says "his hands red with black blood." this proves my point that skin color isn't funny to make fun of someone and mistreat them also on how they were born like that.

"We feel now..." (Joseph Chamberlain). I find this quote interesting because it reveals how the Imperialists were manipulative by justifying their wrong actions. They made it seem like they helped the other people who were originally in the land, but in reality this only benefited the Imperialists Empire. The quote mentions "I maintain that our rule does, and has, brought security and peace... to countries that never knew those blessings before". I think this is only coming from a perspective of an imperialist, and not those who have been negatively affected. The quote in general only intensified my belief of imperialism. This is because in my definition of imperialism, I mentioned how they were controlling and the quote supports that. The imperialists decided what was best for the locals, and conquered multiple territories. They did not care about the people from the land they took, but simply cared about gaining more power.

''what I found most interesting about this quote '' when the whites came to our country.. is it illustrates the adverse effects of imperialism in Africa, where European colonizers seized land while imposing their religious beliefs, also it highlights the loss of cultural identity and agency for African people, as they transitioned from land ownership to adopting foreign religious practices. This quote intensified my belief in imperialism. It intensified my belief of imperialism because I believe that imperialism is all about taking greed and to me this quote showed this. This quote talks about how it reflects the impact of imperialism on African societies. The imperialist couldn't let them keep anything that was theirs. not even their land and religion. all that imperialists was all the power there was.

A quote I found is “We feel now” by Joseph chamberlain, this quote talks about helping other people. The quote explains how ruling over other countries to bring peace, safety and happiness. The quote also shows that trying to say that taking over other countries was a good thing, but imperialism was about gaining power and resources. Overall the quote said that they made an excuses to justify imperialism.
