Heavy traffic congested the streets I am still to familiarize myself with. As the cars raced to go home from work, I raced to be at work on time.

As I entered the place where time stands still, the comfort of my coworkers managed to speed up the seconds. We spent hours practicing techniques to up the sales of our baked goods, which seemed like a waste of my time and skills; but we all have bills.

Headlights shone in my now drooping eyes. My destination of home, now, only minutes away.

As I carried my body inside, a fluffy ball of happiness ran toward me. He greeted me with his wagging tail and goofy smile. He radiates such love and positivity that the exhaustion fled from my body. We cuddled up in a castle of blankets and his ears stood tall as I played him a song on my ukulele.

My fingertips danced upon the four strings as my stress transformed from burden to inspiration. I sang as though each word that left my lips was another negative feeling exiting my body. Singing songs until I was left with a calm mind ready for rest.

The morning came fast as I hardly felt rested at all. I gathered my things for another day at University; I am yet to settle into this new lifestyle of studying. My lips tasted the sweetness of my warm tea from my favourite mug as I send a message to my love wishing him a good morning. This has become my morning ritual.

I say goodbye to my mother and goodbye to my dog, ensuring him that I will see him in just a few hours as though we speak the same language. 

I find myself in the middle of traffic again, ready for another day.
