We were reminded that knowledge in Islam is not only about gaining information but also about purifying our intentions and practicing what we learn. Some key etiquettes include sincerity (ikhlas), humility, respect for teachers, consistency, and putting knowledge into action.

We also reflected on the Qur’an as the ultimate source of guidance for mankind. It provides direction in matters of faith, morals, and daily life.

༶•┈┈୨♡୧┈┈•༶

For the second week, our usrah session focused on the pillar of Islam We learned that the Rukun Islam represents the five fundamental pillars that form the foundation of a Muslim’s faith and practice: the declaration of faith (shahadah), performing prayer (salah), giving alms (zakat), fasting in Ramadan (sawm), and performing pilgrimage (hajj) for those who are able. These pillars remind us of our duties as Muslims, both to Allah and to society.

We also studied the hadith Jibril is the hadith of islamic prophet Muhammad which is known to express the religion of islam in a concise manner.

The session reminded us that living as a Muslim requires balance between actions, beliefs, and inner sincerity. By understanding and applying the lessons from Rukun Islam and Hadis Jibril, we can strengthen our relationship with Allah and live a meaningful life guided by Islam.

༶•┈┈୨♡୧┈┈•༶

In this week’s usrah, we focused on three important pillars of Iman: belief in Allah, His messengers, and His books.

Firstly, belief in Allah means acknowledging that He is the One and Only God, without partners, and that all power and creation belong to Him. This faith builds our trust (tawakkul) in Allah and reminds us to worship Him sincerely.

Secondly, belief in the messengers teaches us that Allah sent prophets and messengers to guide mankind. The final messenger, Prophet Muhammad , brought Islam as a complete way of life. Believing in him means following his teachings and Sunnah as guidance in our daily lives.

Thirdly, belief in the revealed books shows us that Allah sent divine scriptures as guidance, such as the Taurat revealed to Prophet Musa , the Zabur revealed to Prophet Dawud , the Injil revealed to Prophet Isa , and finally the al-Qur’an revealed to Prophet Muhammad . As Muslims, we respect all the previous scriptures, but the Qur’an is the last and complete guidance for all of humanity until the end of time.

This session reminded us that faith is not only belief in the heart but also action. By truly believing in Allah, His messengers, and His books, we strengthen our identity as Muslims and align our lives with divine guidance.

In this session, let’s talk about adab towards our parents. In Islam, respecting and honoring our parents is one of the highest forms of good conduct. But it’s not just about showing respect outwardly – it's about our heart, our intentions, and how we handle our parents with care, especially when they might make mistakes or act in ways we don’t agree with.

One beautiful example of adab to parents is found in the story of Prophet Ibrahim . Despite his father’s disbelief and harsh words, Prophet Ibrahim always showed him kindness and respect. In Surah Maryam, when Prophet Ibrahim spoke to his father, he used the words "Ya Abati" – "O my dear father." which shows tenderness and affection.

Even though his father was a disbeliever, Prophet Ibrahim (AS) didn’t speak to him harshly or degrade him. Instead, he spoke to him with love and patience, guiding him to the truth gently. This shows us that adab isn’t just about obedience, it’s about treating our parents with dignity and respect, no matter their beliefs or actions.

Prophet Ibrahim also made dua for his father, asking Allah to guide him. Even though his father rejected him and was cruel at times, Prophet Ibrahim remained patient and never lost his sense of respect. His adab towards his father teaches us that, even when our parents may not be perfect or may make mistakes, we should continue to be kind, patient, and humble with them.

The story of Prophet Ibrahim reminds us that adab towards our parents is a reflection of our character and a way to show gratitude to the ones who gave us life. Islam teaches us that the way we treat our parents is so important – it’s part of our obedience to Allah. We should speak to them kindly, offer help without them having to ask, and always show them love and respect, even if they are not perfect.

✧༺♥༻∞

In the first week, I learned about the concept of hikmah and how it is closely connected to niyyah, amal, and ihsan. I understood that hikmah is not just knowledge, but the ability to apply knowledge wisely in daily life. A good niyyah (intention) is the foundation of every action, because Allah looks at our intentions before our actions. From this, I learned that even small deeds can be valuable if done sincerely.

Amal teaches me that faith must be shown through actions, not just words. Meanwhile, ihsan reminds me to always try my best and behave as if Allah is watching me at all times. This week made me more aware of how I should improve my intention and attitude in everything I do

✧༺♥༻∞

In the second week, we learned about the wisdom behind the main acts of worship in Islam: prayer, fasting, zakat, and hajj. This lesson helped me see that ibadah is not just about following rules, but about building a strong relationship with Allah.

Prayer (solat) is a daily reminder to pause from worldly activities and return to Allah. I learned that solat trains discipline, focus, and humility. When I pray properly, I feel calmer and more organized in my life.

Fasting (puasa) teaches self-control and patience. It is not only about not eating and drinking, but also about controlling our emotions, words, and behavior. Through fasting, I learn to appreciate the food I have and feel empathy for those who are less fortunate.

Zakat shows the importance of sharing our blessings. I learned that wealth is not fully ours; it is a trust from Allah. By giving zakat, we help reduce inequality and strengthen the bond between rich and poor in society.

Hajj teaches unity and equality. Everyone wears the same simple clothes, regardless of status. This reminds me that in front of Allah, we are all the same. This week made me realize that every act of worship shapes our character and mindset.

Preparation for Prayer with Khusyuk

In the third week of Usrah, we focused on the preparation needed to achieve khusyuk (deep concentration) in prayer. I learned that prayer (solat) is more than just a physical act; it is a spiritual connection with Allah, and proper preparation makes it meaningful.

One of the first steps is performing ablution (wudu’). Wudu’ cleanses both the body and mind, reminding me that I should purify my thoughts and intentions before standing in front of Allah. It is a time to reflect and mentally prepare for worship. We also learned about tayamum, the dry ablution, which is used when water is not available. Tayamum shows that Allah provides ease in worship and that the intention to purify oneself sincerely matters more than the method itself.

Understanding these preparations made me realize that prayer starts even before I raise my hands in takbir. Each small step, from washing my hands and face to mentally focusing, helps create an environment for khusyuk. Khusyuk is about being fully present in prayer, not distracted by worldly thoughts. It requires humility, awareness, and dedication.

Through this lesson, I learned that achieving khusyuk is a continuous effort. It is not only about physical cleanliness, but also about purifying the heart, calming the mind, and focusing on Allah alone. Preparing properly for prayer strengthens my connection with Him and reminds me of the importance of sincerity and mindfulness in worship.

Praying with full concentration and sincerity teaches submission and loyalty to Allah, as it reflects complete trust and obedience to Him. Through khusyuk in prayer, I also learned the importance of striving in the path of Allah by maintaining consistency and sincerity in worship.

This lesson encouraged self-reflection, as prayer becomes a moment to evaluate one’s actions and intentions. In addition, the values of modesty and self-restraint help in controlling desires and maintaining good character, while humility reminds me to remain humble and aware of my dependence on Allah in every aspect of life.

The Virtues Found in Zakah and Sadaqah

In week 6, I learned about the virtues found in zakah and sadaqah. Zakah is an obligatory act of worship that purifies wealth and reminds us that all sustenance comes from Allah, while sadaqah is a voluntary act of charity that reflects generosity and sincerity. Understanding the differences between zakah and sadaqah helped me realize that both play important roles in strengthening faith and responsibility towards others.

This lesson also emphasized tawakkul, as giving wealth requires trust in Allah’s provision and blessings. In addition, zakah and sadaqah strengthen ukhuwah among Muslims by fostering care, compassion, and mutual support.
