By Frederico Soares Campos and Rodrigo Gonçalves: “Lápis Azul Nunca Mais” Mural

This large mural, painted on the side of a residential building, stands as a powerful statement against censorship. The phrase “Lápis azul nunca mais” (“Blue pencil never again”) refers to the strict censorship imposed during the dictatorship when government officials used blue pencils to erase parts of texts. The artwork includes images of protests, people holding carnations, and the word “Liberdade!” (“Freedom!”), reinforcing the importance of free expression and democracy.
