Many students on a rainy day might forget to bring their umbrella out with them. I usually see students rushing to get to school or go home when it rains as they didn’t bring out a umbrella with them. From the bus stop to the school, there isn’t a single shelter to cover the rain for the students. By the time the students manage to reach the school after running in the rain, they would be drench. If this happen during a examination day, the student might get sick and would not be able to take the test. Another problem i face is that, even when students reach the school with their wet umbrellas, they would dry it out on the pathway outside their classroom, and by doing this. It blocks the students from accessing the pathway.

Design problem 1

On rainy days, even if a person has and umbrella, their shoes or feet will inevitably get wet. This will make their feet extremely uncomfortable, comfort is extremely important especially for students as discomfort may cause the student to lose focus and be unable to pay attention during lessons. For students, joggers or anyone who stands in wet socks and shoes for a long period of time is worse compared to other activities, such as swimming with water shoes. With prolonged cold and wetness, your feet can lose circulation and nerve function. They are also deprived of the oxygen and nutrients that your blood normally provides. Another problem would be that bacteria may grow on your feet since bacteria tend to grow in damp and wet places, not to mention it will also cause your feet to stink

–jin guan

Design problem 2

Parents at home with babies or kids have a hard time feeding their child as they might drop the food or spill it from the bowl onto the floor. This makes it very frustrating and tiring for the parents as they would have to clean it up first before resuming back to feeding the child and if they dont, it may attract lots of ants which is very troublesome since the ants may crawl into foods that both the baby and the parents consume making it inedible. At the same time, it might also starve the child and cause him or her to start crying or misbehaving, this may result in creating too much noise which might be annoying for the neighbors especially if they have something important going on.

–jin guan

For those who wear spectacles, we all have faced this same issue. Every morning when we wake up we cant find our spectacles or we cant recall where we last put it. Even for some cases when some put their spectacle beside them, the spectacle might have fallen to the ground and another person might have stepped on it. When we cant find our spectacles we tend to ask for those around us to help find them. But what if they are also facing the same problem? Who will we turn to?

-hilmy

Many people, when they leave their homes they need to bring their belongings because no one will be home or they live alone. The most common belonging is house keys. But what if you forget to bring your house keys with you and lock yourself out of your own home? Some also consider hiding their keys outside their doorstep. Example under the doorstep mat or in a shoe at a shoe rag. When you do this, don't be surprise if anything in your home turns missing because when u hide your keys outside of your house your neighbours might have seen the location of your keys or some burglars might have inspect the location of your keys.

-hilmy

Many people who use makeup usually do not have a proper space to store their makeup and often times will just leave their makeup lying around or simply just dump them all together in a box. This is not ideal as there are many makeup items that look similar but have totally different uses and if they misuse those items, it would be very time consuming to remove. Plus, makeup items come in different shapes and sizes so choosing a box suitable for all makeup items is difficult.

- letitia :D

This is also a real world situation that alot of women face and can be researched on. U can still improve by specifying where the make up is done and under what circumstances would be different, for example if u have a job interview and u want to go to a public toilet to improve your looks, what problems would u face? Basically to explore more different possibilities, but overall is still very well done

–jin guan

During the Covid-19 pandemic, many people still continue to eat out at restaurants with friends and families. This is not ideal as the virus can still spread as people aren't wearing their masks while eating. Covid-19 is a very serious matter and it is not worth risking your health for a meal with other people. Plus, most restaurants do not have any barriers or protection from the virus so people who walk past these restaurants might also be at risk to the virus.

- letitia :D

Very clear description of the who, what, when, where and how. This design problem is a real need as rain is very common in Singapore's tropical climate. Maybe you can be clearer about why they have to stand in wet socks and shoes? You can also state that bacteria can grow in warm and damp places such such as your feet when they aren't properly dried.

- letitia :D

Not very clear on why and how people's spectacles would fall on the floor but has included who, what, when and where clearly. This is a real need as I myself have often times misplaced my spectacles. Perhaps you can give more details on the location where you place your spectacles however, this problem can be easily solved by assigning a specific place to put your spectacles like storing it in a drawer in a nearby table. That way, it can prevent people from stepping on your spectacles and you forgetting where you placed them.

- letitia :D

On rainy days , the school is often too exposed causing most surfaces to be extremely wet . Although in Singapore its mostly extremely humid , on days where it rains there is always rain water everywhere even on sheltered place as water come it through the sides . ive observed that during the rainy days in school , the hallway to our classes are always super slippery . being a sec 4 student means that my class would be the highest level and mostly likely water will come in more & it causes a lot of dangerous scenarios to happen . There hasnt been any serious cases of injury due to the wet surface problem but what if something extremely bad happens in the future ? and how can it be prevented ?

- aaaadil

I have recently noticed that they are many collectables that are in extremely small sizes for them to collect . One big problem faced is that , most children keep all their toys in big boxes , but when keep the new collectables , it makes it impossible to find . as they are so small , they kids have to clear our the whole box just to find one piece and ending up creating a big mess with all the other toys laying around the room .

- aaaaadil
