Leviticus

I didn’t think I’d like the book of Leviticus as much as I do.

The other day I yelled at my family and felt so bad. I found myself wanting to sacrifice a ram as a guilt offering! Then I realized that I am forgiven by Jesus and am learning to accept that gift in a deeper way.

I also find it interesting that God says He will set his face against and cut off a person from their people who does evil things. I have experienced being far from God and cut off from my family by doing evil things and it literally says that that’s what God does. He is holy, he makes us holy because he is our God, so he sets consequences in place for not doing the right thing.

Anyways .. I like Leviticus ..

Burning continually

“The Lord said to Moses, “Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning continually. Outside the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law in the tent of meeting, Aaron is to tend the lamps before the Lord from evening till morning, continually. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. The lamps on the pure gold lampstand before the Lord must be tended continually.”

‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭24‬:‭1‬-‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

https://bible.com/bible/111/lev.24.2.NIV

Sounds like Aaron isn’t getting much sleep. He has to tend to the lamps continually. I pray that I would have the same diligence to tend to my relationship with Jesus continually. Never letting the fire go out.

““ ‘Do not make idols or set up an image or a sacred stone for yourselves, and do not place a carved stone in your land to bow down before it. I am the Lord your God. “ ‘Observe my Sabbaths and have reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord. “ ‘If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees their fruit. Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land. “ ‘I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down and no one will make you afraid. I will remove wild beasts from the land, and the sword will not pass through your country. You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you. Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you. “ ‘I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful and increase your numbers, and I will keep my covenant with you. You will still be eating last year’s harvest when you will have to move it out to make room for the new. I will put my dwelling place among you, and I will not abhor you. I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people. I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt so that you would no longer be slaves to the Egyptians; I broke the bars of your yoke and enabled you to walk with heads held high.”

‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭26‬:‭1‬-‭13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

https://bible.com/bible/111/lev.26.13.NIV

I go to Greta lengths to “have it all together” and be sure I’m following what you’re “supposed to do.” But then I’m reminded that God made me. He knows my every thought. I can’t hide who I really am and what I really think. He knows my thoughts better than I do. When I try to be like the world says I should I fail over and over again. When I listen to His whisper, I am free and I am more than a conquerer. Other people might not understand me, but God does. And so long as I follow His voice everything will work out.
