THEME: The story enforces on the fact that one should find the positivity rather than holding a pessimistic view on life.
PLOT: The story revolves around a mountain gazelle who has lost his wife. Hopeless about his life, he only seeks solitude, neglecting the fact that he has his daughter to care for. Further the story shows how the innocence of a child can break through all the negativity life has as the fawn shows her father the silver lining around the cloud.
SETTINGS: Persian highlands with acres of green land and herds of beautiful gazelles.
CHARACTERS: father gazelle(Main character)
                  daughter gazelle(Main character)
                  mother gazelle(Dependent character)

                                                  SILVER LINING
Arabs in Persia were never particularly interested in wild animals except for hunting. But with the gazelle it was different. With its lovely body and large, soft eyes, its graceful movements and its gentle ways, the gazelle meant to them all that was beautiful in nature. Herds of gazelles lived high in the mountains that were filled with acres of green land; also known for its crystal clear waters and the divine galloping creatures. The land was an epitome of happiness; the fresh green grass that spread its smell through long distances, the gushing sound of the water that fell from high up.
          Regardless of all the merriment that existed around; there was one such gazelle who felt lonely and shattered at heart after his beautiful wife departed forever. However, his only hope now was their child, his little fawn who did her best to live the life that she had. Her innocence prevailed, she was aware of the fact that she was almost orphaned, but the purity of her beautiful heart always recalled how her mother wanted them to stay happy.
One day, gazing at her father; who was still glum; staring at a tree that he once lived under with his wife; his daughter regarded approaching him; she couldn’t see her father this way anymore. The guiltless mind thought; why had the world made her father gloomy. The gazelle that once adored his daughter; had now gone too far to be called back to the happy world that she wanted to live in. The elegant fawn; sprinting towards her father now;
She asked “Father, why is that you don’t play with me anymore? Has mum gone too far away too never come back? Who are you waiting for here? Will she probably come back?
All these innocent questions were answered with a deep silence; the only sound was the roaring wind across the mountain that made the leaves of the trees rustle. The fawn slowly moved towards her father, brushed her neck around his shoulder and coaxed him on standing up. Deep inside; the fawn still knew that life moved on; her gentle heart kept her calm.
         The little fawn took her father to the nearest waterfall. She said; “For all this time; when you haven’t been with me father; I came here, I spent all my time alone here; remember when mum would be here with us?”
The gazelle spoke after all, “Yes, I do remember, it was a beautiful time wasn’t it?”
All this time the little gazelle had tried to strengthen the bond that had been distanced, she needed it back, she wanted to change the way her father perceived the world; although these emotions were unknown to herself; her ‘innocence’ was keen on changing her father.
“Of course it was, it still is, I have been here for so long father I have realized for myself how things come and go; and the cycle just continues.”
Showing her father a flower; she continued, “Look at this, I saw one just like this before, but the next day, all the petals dried up, it left just like mum did; look at the sun father, it comes up bright and beautiful in the morning and soon goes down in the evening; those trees there, its green leaves, they leave the tree as soon as they grow brown; I might have just realized father, that mum had to go; but just like this flower; everything goes but the world never stops right there”.
The gazelle dropped his head down; his strong, sturdy antlers touching the grass now. He had come to a realization that he had left his daughter alone in the toughest of times, especially when she needed him the most. The world may have had ended for him, but he still had his daughter that he needed to care for.
