Are we unpacking every single standard for our grade level?

For elementary ELA, we hope to unpack all standards.
Dr. Fitzgerald put each standard on the template and put them in the content folders by grade level. We want you to start at the first standard and work your way through the standards.

What should we do if a standard requires more than one lesson?

Great question!!
The unpacking process unpacks the standard, but standards will likely take more than one lesson. Teachers will still need to design instruction for the number of lessons needed to meet the standard.
The learning targets you create are examples of what teacher might use for lessons.

Are we going away from SpringBoard in ELA? What do you expect to see in the classroom regarding it?

Definitely not going away from springboard right now. However, teachers need to be able to make connections from springboard to standards and vice-versa. Springboard is a resource to teach the standard. The expectation is you teach the standard, using resources.

Are the unpacked standards going to be checked for accuracy so that if one is wrong, misinformation is not shared?

Yes, we hope to check them as you type them, but that will be after we get all the technology bugs worked out and answer your format/process questions.

Nothing will be shared with anyone outside this room until it has been checked.

There are no standards listed for ELA Informational Text for 3rd grade.

You should be able to see them now.

We were asked not to use "identify" but in the DOK Flip chart identify is used.

Identify IS a cognitive verb that can be observed and demonstrated.

How are we credited for the work, if we collaborate and are having technical difficulties?

For the knowledge section for grades 11/12, should we be waiting for the grades beneath us to finish so that it is consistent?

You will list the nouns from your standard. You may also use what knowledge is inferred. (refer to conversation we just had about implied knowledge and skills)

An annotated template or a template guide would be useful in using this document and in sharing it with others who are not creating these unpacked standards documents.

Check out the posters at the end of the room by High School ELA teachers. I think they did a great job of clarifying.

Possible evaluation box - if it is intended to be the success criteria for the outcomes relatedto the standard it would be clearer for us and the end user.

I think we resolved this.
The last box for evaluation should be "Success Criteria."
What would student work need to include in order to demonstrate proficiency/mastery of the standard you are unpacking.

Wondering if the item type for the state assessment should be added to the evaluation section of the template because teachers could design instruction that correlates to the question type (for example, equation editor, GRID, Multiple Choice, Multiselect etc..)

Hum.... we are thinking about that. Dr. Fitz says that might be getting into a teachers instructional design.

Given that the F.A.C.E. references the standard at grade level, I think the F.A.C.E. should also be moved to just below the "Success Criteria". In that way, we are focusing on the standard at grade level all the way through, and then moving into remediation--rather than going back and forth.

That's a great question. I think site administrators are coordinating the training for their own sites.

They had some online and in-person trainings offered through PDS for Office365

Yes it has been available in PDS, but I think principals are planning schoolwide training.

Someone suggested teams meet with their level content areas during the school year on an early release day.
This could possibly be a support for vertical articulation if for example 6, 7, 8 ELA meet.

Anyone think they'd like to meet during the school year on an early release day?

Is there a plan to complete this same process with the content specific literacy standards and the speaking/listening and language standards in the future?
