Please be aware that mentors are trainee or qualified Clinical Psychologists. They are therefore often very busy so it is common for there to be a delay before they are able to reply to emails. It may be difficult to arrange time for mentoring sessions at short notice.

You may be sent feedback surveys during the year. We really appreciate and value feedback about the scheme from mentees. We are grateful for your time completing the feedback surveys.

If you are keen to access mentoring via the Cefnogi scheme we encourage you to check this padlet regularly as updates about the opening and closing dates for applications for mentoring will be shared here.

We operate 2 closing dates:

• The first closing date (usually early September) allows people who have applied for mentoring to be matched with a mentor sooner. We hope this will allow those who would like to apply for Clinical Psychology training early (and benefit from the reduced fee offered by Clearing House) time to meet with their mentor before the early Clearing House deadline.

• The final closing date (usually early October) allows people who apply for mentoring later to have time to meet with their mentor before the final Clearing House deadline for applications for Clinical Psychology training.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer interview preparation sessions outside of an existing mentoring relationship.

The Clearing House website contains information about Clinical Psychology training courses in the UK and information about applying for Clinical Psychology training.

We are unable to carry applications for mentoring forward to another year as people's circumstances may change for many reasons meaning they do not wish to access mentoring again the following year.

If you have not had all your mentoring sessions with your mentor you can discuss with them if they are able to continue to offer you sessions until you reach the maximum number. This will be at the mentor's discretion.

If you have received the maximum number of mentoring sessions and would like to access more mentoring you will need to complete a new application for mentoring.

It is a national organisation for women, men, youth and children in the Muslim community in the UK.

They also deliver training workshops on cultural competency to organisations all over the UK.

This scheme is for individuals who identify as being from the global majority/an ethnic minority background (in terms of UK demographics) who are interested in applying for clinical psychology training in Wales.

The scheme is open to those who meet the minimum requirements for Clinical Psychology training in Wales. Please see the Clearing House entries for the Welsh training courses for more information about their entry requirements. We require Home Fees Status and can therefore only offer mentorship to individuals who already have this.

The scheme aims to help eligible candidates build their confidence and relevant skills/experience for the process of applying for clinical psychology training. This will involve a limited number of regular sessions with a mentor (such as a qualified or trainee clinical psychologist) to help them think about clinical training.

Mentees are expected to provide feedback on their experiences of the mentoring scheme to support ongoing development of the scheme.

We will post updates here, on the Clinical Psychology training programme social media pages, and via other avenues (such as local supervisors, pre-training groups, and clinical psychology online forums). We encourage you to check these places regularly for updates about the scheme.

We cannot guarantee you will be matched with a mentor as this depends on how many people apply for mentoring each year and the availability of mentors.

It aims to provide mentoring support for aspiring Clinical Psychologists from the global majority/an ethnic minority background (in terms of UK demographics).

- identify as being from the global majority/an ethnic minority background (in terms of UK demographics),

- have already completed a degree conferring graduate basis for chartership (GBC) with the BPS, 

- meet the minimum academic requirements for one of the Welsh DClinPsy programmes (see Clearing House website for details: https://www.clearing-house.org.uk/), and

- have Home Fees Status as this is a requirement for applicants to the Welsh Clinical Psychology Training Programmes.

The opening and closing dates for applications for mentoring will also be shared in the 'How to apply' section of this padlet.

Once we have received confirmation that you are still interested in mentoring, we will aim to match you with a mentor.

We try to match you with a mentor who meets any preferences you have told us about. However, this is not always possible and depends on the availability of mentors.

We aim to match everyone who has confirmed they would still like to access mentoring via the Cefnogi mentoring scheme within a three weeks of receiving your confirmation.

It is your responsibility to contact your mentor to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet for mentoring.

If you have not contacted your mentor by the date in your introductory email we will assume you no longer wish to access mentoring. Depending on demand, your mentor may be assigned to another mentee. This would mean they are no longer able to offer mentoring sessions to you.

We would encourage you to have an introductory session with your mentor as soon as possible to think about what you hope to get from the mentoring relationship.

Many people find it helpful to have a mentoring session before submitting their Clinical Psychology application form. Your mentor may be able to review your form and provide feedback, but this cannot be guaranteed. Please discuss this with them if you would like them to review your application form.
