         <description><![CDATA[<p>I visited Marrakesh in the summer. I was able to do a walking tour and I visited this specific garden. In many places that I visited a water feature/chanel always existed. Here the blue tile that runs down the middle reminds me of river. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I like this photo of the Alhambra as it showcases the Muslim influence in the early Iberian Peninsula. However, in the present day, the state in which the Alhambra is located has shifted from being Muslim to Catholic. It's an important reminder of how architecture of the past can still shape a space.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>On my way to Marrakesh, I had a layover in Istanbul. Due to a delay, I had to spend the night in a hotel on the outskirts of Istanbul. Before this course, I did not know much of the history of Turkey, and I was surprised by the breadth of culture and history in a place of which I was unaware. I simply did not know that Istanbul was the old Constantinople. </p>]]></description>

I did not know that Bulgaria was a territory in the Ottoman Empire. I have also been reading the country denies its ottoman past and influence. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>I had no knowledge of the Euphrates River. I did not even know that it was located in modern-day Syria or it is one of the longest-running rivers in the world. I just learned that Euphrates was critical in providing resources and mobility to early civilizations. Moreover, the river carries significant biblical relevance. </p>]]></description>
