 Bully V.S Cyberbully 


When you think about it, what identifies as a bully? Are YOU a bully?! What starts out as a simple bit of joking around, can turn into something horrible. 


Bully the documentary from 2011 explains the lives of many, and how bullying doesn’t just affect one person, but families throughout the world, some leading to suicide. While Cyberbully talks about how our new age of technology leads to bad too. And how having a computer can lead to years of physiological differences hurting many people and families.


Cyberbully acts out what will happen with online bullying while Bully actually witness real events in real life.


These are proven in the films “cyberbully” and the 2011 documentary ''Bully”. Both show similarities and differences. Differences include: One is fictional  and one is real, one is online bullying and one is verbal and physical, etc. Some similarities include: both shows negative effects of bullying, and both encountered bullying due to rumors.


In the end, the main point is that both films are different from each other in many ways. Proof is that Cyberbully talks about the negative impacts of cyber bullying. While the documentary is different due to it being true stories and about physical, verbal, and social bullying.





Main Idea A

Cyberbully is about bullying online and it’s a fictional Film, with bully it's a documentary about the real victims that are getting bullied and it's all caught on camera, it’s a non-fictional film, with cyber-bully it’s a film about a girl named Taylor, she gets a laptop for her birthday, she gets on a website called ‘Clicksters’ and she gets Cyberbullied by almost everyone on the server. With Bully, it shows different victims of bullying and shows the reality of bullying, even on camera the bullies have no shame by being mean and pushing around the people in the film, Bully shows Real life events, While bully is realistic-fiction, meaning its not real but can happen in real life. Cyber-bully is a film so people understand what can happen behind the screen, the plot twist is her own friend who has been saying these horrible things to her, Bully is a film showing people and them telling the camera their story, and for parents telling the difficult stories of their kids who took their own life because of this. Bully and Cyber-bully are two great films for educational purposes, they both share a reality in front of the camera or behind the screen. We all know that bullying is not the right thing to do because of what it does to people if can really affect their brains and make them think of thoughts that are not good, there for we know that both these films can help kids know what bullying can do to others.. If you are being affected by bullying stand up for yourself and call the right people, talk to the right people, call kids help phone, 1-800-866-6868 and  or text 686868. Don’t consider suicide, and get help from those around you including your parents friends and other family maybe even your teachers. The bullies come for


Bullying negatively effects everyone from the parents to the children to the community.              

In both of the films,parents were devastated and his family changed forever. In “Bully”


 His family was traumatized by what had happened to him, and what he had done to himself. Later on his family and friends came together to have a ceremony at the town hall to commemorate all of their lost children. In “Cyberbully” her mom found out how bad it was.  

Taylor was being cyber bullied by everyone. Taylor hid the fact that she was being bullied from her mom and so when her mom found out how bad it truly was, it was almost too late to save her. 


 Effect on the communities. Jack,caleb 

Their comunity is less liked because travelers know that a kid got bullied into suicide and they might not want to move there or even tour the place. The community has parents that are probably worried about their kids getting bullied, so they might take them out of school and that hurts the community because they have less kids going to school and they won't be known as a highly educated school. And most places have plaques with highly successful people and if nobody goes to school there won't be any plaques. If nobody is going and nobody is wanting to go then there is a potential chance that the school will get shut down and that could be bad for some families because maybe some bullies have got expelled or suspended from the other schools and for other families the other schools might be to far away from home and they won't have a ride and in that case they cant go to school and get the education that they need.

One is fictional and one is non fiction

Both movies felt equally effective in a way because Cyberbully was a movie so it wasn’t real and it was focused on one person in particular, Cyberbully was not as effective because it was fictional and not the acting wasn’t the greatest acting, in the movie there was an attempted suicide because of the online stuff being said about her but in the documentary the were suicides because bullying. The documentary on the other hand was focused on multiple people and was real and pretty effective because kids were severely getting hurt and a kid brought a gun to school and she threatened people on her bus. The one boy Alex got called fish face all the time and getting beat up on his bus and in the halls and Tyler took his life because of bullying. In both movies in the end were both sending a message about bullying and how effective it can be to people when getting emotionally and physically hurt.




Conclusion


Even though both films are based on negative social interactions and show the effects of bullying, one deals with negative interactions via social media and the other takes place in person and in a school setting. These films deal with different types of bullying in any situation.  “Bully”  gives the watcher the raw emotion that these victims are feeling, “Cyberbully” shows that it does not matter if you are behind a screen or right in front of them,bullying happens,”Cyberbully” is an effective skit.


It's easy to tell that the cyberbullying film was fictional and that the bully documentary was non-fiction, the real film was a lot more cruel and violent while “Cyberbully” wasn’t as realistic. But both have shown the negative effects. In “Bully”, it was a lot more physical because it is face to face as in “Cyberbully” it was all behind a screen and not really physical, also the emotional factor. the non-fictional film seemed to be a bit more emotional.


These films were both informative and showed the effects of how bullying can change a person’s life and emotional wellbeing. Imagine you were in the victims shoes, the bully’s, or even the parents. How would this affect your life?
