Salihli is a district of Manisa located in the Aegean Region of Turkey. It is famous for its wood meatballs, cherries and grapes. The ancient city of Sardes, where the first money was printed in history and which is now on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, is located in this district. The district is one of the most important centres of the region in terms of history, nature and thermal tourism.

Salihli stands out with its history, arable lands, greenhouses based on thermal energy, rapidly developing Organised Industrial Zone, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and tourism investments.

A Short History of Salihli
Although the fossil footprints found in the vicinity of Sindel and Çarıklar villages near the dam lake indicate that the history of the region dates back to ancient times, the oldest known important settlement centre is the city of Sart (Sardes), 7 km west of Salihli. This is also the place where the first money was printed in the world history. The region, which was Lydian territory until 547 BC, was captured by the Persians at that time and remained under the rule of the Achaemenid Empire until 334 BC. The Thousand Hills (Anatolian Pyramids), the tombs of the kings, are on the Salihli-Gölmarmara road and have been looted. After this date, the region, which was under the rule of Macedonia, Pergamum, Rome and Byzantium, was under the rule of Saruhanoğulları in the early 1300s and under the Ottoman Empire in 1400, Sart became an accident under Aydın Sanjak. The current district centre, which was a village under the Sart accident at that time and named Veled-i Salih (Salihoğlu), developed faster than Sart in time and became a town in the early 18th century and an accident under the Sanjak of Saruhan in 1872. In 1927, after the name of the Sanjak of Saruhan was changed, Salihli, one of the largest districts of Manisa, was under occupation between 24 June 1920 and 5 September 1922. During the Greek occupation of Salihli, the mayor of the period, Hacı Davut ULAŞ, and 2 of his councillors were exiled because they did not accept the Greek mandate, and after the war, they came back in the prisoner exchange.

About school

Ivan Lucić High School - Trogir, was founded in 1992. In 1992, it was separated from COUO Trogir partisan detachment. The majors in the school are general high school, language high school, economics.

The school was named after the historical figure Ivan Lucić. He was born in 1604 in Trogir, and died in Rome on January 11, 1679 in Rome. Ivan Lucić is the father of Croatian history, the founder of critical historiography. He was the first Croatian historian who used archival materials and recorded inscriptions from well-known archaeological monuments.

In almost all subjects, students participate in competitions from school to national level. They participate in various projects at all levels. As a result of the school's good educational work, a large number of our students successfully enroll in world and European universities.

About Trogir

In 1997, the old town center of Trogir was included in UNESCO's list of world cultural heritage as an example of a well-preserved Romanesque island town. It is located in the sea strait between the mainland and the island of Čiovo, at the western entrance to the Kaštela Bay.

Few cities can boast about fifteen churches, five towers and numerous statues that adorn Trogir's squares and streets. Trogir is the best-preserved Romanesque-Gothic complex, not only on the Adriatic, but in all of Central Europe.

Trogir is one of those settlements that could be said, if the licentia poetica is allowed, to have existed forever. Archaeological excavations within the historic core, although they dug several meters below sea level (the coast is sinking), did not reach the sterile layers. The encroaching sea makes research difficult, so the oldest finds so far date back to approximately 2000 BC. In the surrounding area, however, in Trapleni Doci, in the cave there, a small flint weapon used by Neanderthal man was found, and it is probably around 45,000 years old.

In the IV-III century B.C. it was settled by the Greeks. In the first century, Trogir became a Roman municipality "Tragurium civium Romanorum" and joined Salona, the center of the Roman province of Dalmatia. After the fall of the Roman Empire in the fifth century, Trogir continued to develop as an independent city.

In the sixth century, Croats settled in the area of Trogir and that's when the creation of works of art began. From the beginning of the Middle Ages, the old Greek city of Tragurion felt the new medieval culture. Builders and masons built churches and decorated them with intertwined ornaments.

During the tenth century, the citizens of Trogir renewed the old city life by taking over the Roman "oppidum". In the fight against the Venetians, the kings of Hungary received Trogir in exchange for a guarantee of independence. The citizens of Trogir could freely choose their city leaders, and already in the eleventh century, a small community on a fortified islet had its own bishop who had the right to vote in the Diocese of Split.

At the beginning of the 13th century, the citizens of Trogir under the leadership of Ilija from the Kačić family built a new cathedral. Forty years later, master Radovanje carved the cathedral's main portal from stone.

The progress of the city was interrupted in 1420, when the city was occupied by the Venetians, who were badly devastated after a long struggle. The occupation lasted for almost four centuries, until 1797. During this time, Trogir was rebuilt again and new palaces, houses, towers and forts were built. After a short period of independence, Trogir fell under the domination of Napoleon, who is remembered for significant communal and health reforms and modernization of the economy.

The Austrians conquered the city in 1814 - 1914. After 1848, the process of democratization began, and very soon, in 1877, the Croats were the rulers of their city. After the First World War, Trogir, together with Croatia, became part of the state of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, which was later called Yugoslavia. In June 1991, Trogir finally became the city of the independent Republic of Croatia, which received its international recognition in January 1992.
