This piece caught my eye because I think the contrast between the material and the original object is humorous. The original controller is supposed to be about quickness and technology, while concrete/fossilization is about ancient heaviness. It also makes me think about what future civilizations will think of us when they find the remnants of our society, and we aren't around anymore to explain it. 2. Most of the time when we think of concrete as a material, we think of utilitarian uses like buildings, parking lots, or maybe fountains, etc. I like that this artist is using concrete for a sculptural purpose without a typical use or function. 3. In this case, I think the value of the object comes from the artist's idea, not from the material itself. This piece caught my attention because it was so surprising to see the skinny little tree inside the giant log. 2. I love this work because instead of using wood to depict some other form, he is revealing the nature of wood itself, as a material, how the wood was created by nature. It makes you think about how living things grow and change with the passage of time. 3. Although sometimes wood can be very valuable as a material, these seem like 'common' logs to begin with. I think the value of this work is more about the artist's concept and his ability to carve the baby tree out so carefully. They 'yarn bomb' objects in their publicly visible environment like trees, benches, cranes, boats, etc. 1. This work caught my eye at first because of its large scale and bright colors. I love how delightfully friendly and optimistic it looks, like a free friendly gift to the whole community who sees it. as I read more about the artist and her team, I really like how it is a group effort collaboration. the togetherness is amongst the makers, and amongst the viewers. 2. Usually knitting and crocheting by hand is a labor of love. It is historically a hand-craft performed by women for the comfort and economic benefit of their families. It shows warmth and caring, so it makes me feel this work as a gesture of caring and good wishes for the community. 3. The value of this work is in the effort of the artists, it takes a long time to crochet that much surface area! This work made me stop in my tracks because of its precision and intricate execution. 2. I love how Ohno takes such a common material that is everywhere around us and turns it into such amazing sculpture. I think it's an interesting gender dynamic that she seems to revel in subjects like jets, guns and tanks that stereotypically, young boys often like to draw. 3. cardboard has almost no intrinsic value, but in the hands of this artist, it can be turned into fantastic art. This particular piece caught my eye because of its huge size (large enough to cover a whole human chest) and the repeating lines in the feather pattern. 2. A lot of cultures use gold in jewelry, but this one stood out to me because the lapis lazuli blue stone and red carnelian are such a bold contrast to the gold. 3. The value of this piece is of course in the material itself, but also in the extreme age of the piece, as well as the skill involved in making it. It’s difficult to get a sense of scale from the picture, but it’s 22cm tall. That means this is a very thin, narrow piece. It’s also much older than the modern borosilicate glass recipe, which means that it is more delicate than modern glass. The light on the faces surrounded by shadows is very striking. The way the artist has controlled the light in this painting is impressive. Further inspection reveals magnificent and subtle colors, candid expressions, and the feeling that these were real people. They do not appear to be idealized, this is simply how they looked. But the fact that the faces have enough detail to communicate that is amazing. Incidentally, this painting was stolen along with 12 other works of art from the Isabella Stewart Gardner’s Museum in 1990. Title: Marble Statue of a Lion

I found this interesting because whoever the artist is, this was their perspective of what this creature looked like and captured scariness in it's face in their sculpture. This lion looks like it would be huge in size and I think that's what the artist tried to capture. The small details in it's body and face, the thickness in it's upper body and the detachment of the tail is what made this attracted to me. I choose to believe that the artists story behind this is wild because maybe they encountered such creature? We don't usually take the time to look at pennies or quarters, but when we do, you got to admire the effort put into it. In this case, what makes this stood out to me is the detail. The individual strains of hair, the bents on the hat, and even the pupil of the eye. In fact the titanium was fashioned with a certain amount of oxygen in order to get it that color. I think its so beautiful and so modern and technological. it has a replica of the vehicle he flown on his mission. The first man in space. The pedestal is reminiscent of a rockets exhaust. It's grand and big and it points to space. The creators of the monument are the sculptor Pavel Bondarenko, architects Yakov Belopolsky, F.M. Gazhevsky, and designer A.F. Sudakov.

From material, execution of a low oxygen forged material, the lustre, the modernity. (64 x 40 in.) it's one of the many glass still life paintings she did in the 1970's and the 1980's. I like early Fish she later moved on to flower subject matter and her paintings no longer seem that interesting to me. I find her use of line and color interaction between the subjects interesting. I'm sold on Fish. Lets' go FISHing! I so want a Janet Fish painting!

Well working big in still lifes and with this linear paint strokes of color, I think is no small feat. The reaction of light and color between said objects in the still lifes is highly observant. I admire and appreciate that.

Taking ordinary objects and adding colorplay to them brings and elevation of the senses.

All of them. First of all I was unaware what the word Fresco meant and found out that it means “fresh” in italian this is one of the most famous paintings ever by De Venci himself Im drawn to it so much because I believe that there are so many hidden messages in this painting and its a very famous one that i'm sure bunch of families have in there kitchen or living room so as a religious man i'm very drawn to it. From what I've Read is The Last Supper fresco is da Vinci’s only surviving fresco and his largest painting. The spirit of exploration that characterizes da Vinci as the ultimate Renaissance man is evident in this deviation from traditional buon fresco. Leonardo da Vinci created this painting using a modified secco fresco technique. On dry plaster with a white lead undercoat, da Vinci painted with tempera paint and oil glazes to increase the color vibrancy. The use of tempera paint also allowed da Vinci to recreate the blending he is known for and to make adjustments to the composition. A colorful twist of water and sea life swirl up the steps to land with flowers, plants, birds, and frogs and ends with a beautiful sky with stars and even a massive sun. Because it's part of the bay area. In SF its my favorite and a must see its no longer a secret.

The way this artist used found objects from nature such as pieces of bugs, fur, dead animals is what made it so interesting to me. She place these pieces on glass slides to create her art work which was then photographed. What makes these valuable is the uniqueness of the work.

I think that the reason why this piece caught my eye was because I thought it was cool. It is something that just looked interesting to me. I do not think that it is better than other pieces because those other pieces are also very nice, but this piece must have been time concuming based on how big it is. It kind of reminds me of a titan from AOT because of its height and not because of what it looks like. The art piece is around 18ft tall. I guess you can say that I appreciate how long the artist must have worked on this piece. Another thing that caught my attention was that it reminds me of a toy. I guess it brings out my inner child.

It is amazing to believe that Jungs book was not published until 2008. He died in 1961. If it would have been published he would have been ridiculed and shunned from the scientific community.
Another person that comes to mind is Sir Isaac Newton and his little black book. If the public would have read his little black book he wouldn't of been buried in the prominent place he is now nor would he be a Sir.

This was a kind of grimoire in the travels of the sub-conscious. He like Dali tried to bring art from the other side (unconscious or collective unconscious) Of course he is using symbols that are used to convey meaning from a worldwide context. It may have been his way to realize or codify his understanding of symbols in order to fully realize them.

I miss the expositions such as Pan Pacific, and the worlds Fair. The last one was in New Orleans in 1984 and was a financial disaster. There are rumors to a new one in 2023.

I was looking for architectural content and this caught my eye as the shape and ornamental arches as interesting.

I should say that the whole exhibition material is great (there are others) the entrance is important though as it is the first thing that people see.

The ornamentation. It's use of polychrome ceramic. It's Art Nouveau style.

All of it. Exceptional because it was in the midst of the Art Nouveau movement which was short lived.

What interests me the most about this type of work is how much time and patience it requires as the artist paints small details of the fish on a resin layer, waits for the resin to harden, and continues to add on the details. When the work is finished, the goldfish are seen in so much detail and the depth the resin adds adds to the realism of the fish.

Not much color used, but the way the craftsmen put it together made it flow nicely. The time it took to put each little tiny stone together to make this is incredible. Strawberry Hill in Central Park is the location of the Mosaic. It was made as a dedication for John Lennon who was killed at his home across from the park. It is a six ring stainless steel ”masterpiece” that was fabricated by Olson Steel’s San Leandro shop. Just the magnitude of it all really stands out to me. It took years to build this. I am sure this artist felt the pressure when he did it because it was so well known. Catholic Archbishop showed up after it was done and had a quiet moment with artist Jackie Hadnot. People making almost photo-realistic paintings with oils is one of my favorite kinds of paintings. The attention to detail in the table cloth pattern and her reflection in the mirror is amazing! The color palette of this painting really caught my eye, alongside how this painting could fool me for a photo. The attention to detail is something I really appreciate; I could never have the patience to paint something like this! I wouldn’t consider this piece “the best” oil painting, but it’s definitely a great example of a piece made by someone who has MASTERED oils. I think the value of this comes from the difficulty of the required precision.

Another Eugène Atget photo caught my eye, but this one was one of my favorites. Simple, older photography of buildings and small towns are lovely. I love photography, but something about earlier photography really speaks to me, everything had to start somewhere. It was a lot of work to take one single photograph. Modern photography is awesome, but you can never beat the classics. Since photos weren’t nearly as easy to take then as they were now, you had to put a lot of effort into getting the perfect shot. The value definitely comes from the difficulty and dedication put into the execution.

No matter what the medium, no matter what the context, frogs ALWAYS catch my eye. I love frogs 😊. Extravagant pieces are always stunning to see, but sometimes it’s the little things I appreciate the most. Even art on the more “simple looking” side takes thought and time. This is definitely not the best ceramic piece to ever exist, but there is a notable charm to it. I think the value of this piece comes from the charm. It’s like something you’d see on your grandmother’s bookshelf, small and adorable.

I absolutely adore Dale Chihuly’s glass work. Every time I see it, it blows me away. It’s all so fragile and complicated in detail, and then you think about how this kind of thing is made and it becomes even more amazing! Glass art is beautiful, but Dale’s artwork, in my opinion, is some of the best. I’m lucky enough to have seen some of it in person. The way it’s illuminated by the light around it makes it feel like you’re looking at something ethereal. The value comes from the detail and how absolutely mesmerizing the piece is.

When I was going through mediums on Google, I didn’t expect to see cardboard. When I opened it up and saw Van Gogh’s Self Portrait, I had to do a double take. I would have never known that this piece was done on cardboard. I could imagine that painting on cardboard would be difficult, hence why it looks like he did a lot of precise small strokes to make it work. Each stroke had to have thought put into it. Of course, the value of this piece comes from the fact that it’s Van Gogh’s work, but a lot of people, including me, also value it for the time it took.

Vhils Alexandro Farto is the artist of this art. He was born in 1987 in Portugal and studied in the University of art in London. This image was matched my eyes because it was very unique and beautifully formed by him. He didn’t used paint instead used pneumatic drills chisels and heavy equipment which he uses to carve people’s images in the walls and that made it unique and eye catching. He puts bleach and etching acid and put it on the walls. His technique and tools evolves as his work progresses.

This art catches my attention because it was unbelievable that in the news the police said that plotted by three terrorists to blow up the giant Puppy floral sculpture outside the building.

The first thing I noticed was the color. It's a very unique green/gray color that I haven't seen in any of the other ceramics.
The other thing I noticed were the relatively sharp corners and very flat top. It looks like an incredible amount of skill went into creating this and it gives in an almost manufactured look.

The colors are quite good, and the demons are well portrayed as an amalgamation of different creatures. This is one of Michelangelo's earliest pieces and he was only 12-13 years old when he painted it. You can see the skill in his line work and color scheming. The only real improvement that is seen with his later is that his portrayal of the human body gets much more refined. It almost looks like the subjects could stand up, dust themselves off, and move around.
