Albedo is white surfaces such and snow or ice and these reflect 80% of suns energy back into space. so if those white spots disappear the dark ocean will absorb 90% of that heat accelerating global warming. the albedo effect has already been responsible for 25% of global warming according to Jennifer Francis a research professor at Rutgers University’s School of Environment and Biological Sciences.

When sea ice melts it does not raise the sea levels. But in the arctic due to warmer temperatures are causing land base iced in greenland to melt. If all that ice were to melt which is roughly around 3 times the size of texas then sea levels would rise about 20 feet!! because rates are speeding up its bad because greenland accounts for 4 to 5 %. because melt rates are increasing it is a real threat to people on the us coast. states like florida, new jersey, and maryland have already expierenced flooding. In Alaska Ice protects costal towns from big waves and due to there ice shrienking to record levels big waves been hitting

If the ice keeps melting it will lead to global climate change. This is a problem because global climate change effects everything important to humans such as plants, animals, weather, and commerce. all of these effect our food supply. although people think its bad it will most likely lead to opening waterways for animals nd routes for them. Also many countries are already trying to get spots for shipping lanes when the big melt occurs
