I still remember PhD interview day like it was yesterday, and sitting with you in your office. I felt so seen and to be honest, you played a big part in why I wanted to come to this program in the first place. Since then, you've provided me with so much support and believed in me in ways that I didn't even believe in myself. Thanks for seeing me truly, as a daughter of immigrants, first-gen student, and always wanting to know how I am doing professionally and personally.

I hope to one day become at least half of the school psychologist that you are. You have truly been a mentor to me, and I know you will continue to be. Congratulations on your retirement!

Congratulations on your retirement, Dr. Pesce! No one deserves it more than you do! Thank you for being such a wonderful professor and mentor. I always felt so proud and lucky to have been part of your first cohort at Loyola. You have a way of putting people at ease, making everyone feel comfortable, and giving your support to graduate students who desperately need it in a way unlike any other school psychologist I know. You are one of those people everyone admires, loves, and respects. Thank you for being so inspiring! Enjoy this well-deserved retirement!
Sincerely,
Maggie Norton Scott (class of 2010)

A small box of words is not enough to communicate all of the love for this one man. Dr. Pesce's supervision, guidance, knowledge, support, and friendship have allowed me to become the psychologist I am today. A great teacher doesn't just give information but helps in the transformation of the student into their best self so that they may help others. Ross' impact on school psychology in Illinois is immeasurable. His award of being the National School Psychologist of the Year was fitting but his true legacy is the imprint he has left in all of us. We all love you Ross. -Brian Lazzaro

Dr. Pesce,

I want to thank you for all the mentorship you provided me as I navigated my way through Loyola. You supported me and believed in me when I was unsure of myself and I am very thankful for all of your kindness! I loved being the TA for your practicum classes especially as I observed the rapport you had with each student along with the humor and comfort you brought to each class. I also enjoyed working with you collecting research in the communities of Berwyn and Cicero, I learned of the importance of hearing the voices of members of the community, especially when there are language and cultural barriers. Loyola students have been so lucky to have your guidance and you will be very much missed in the School Psychology program. I hope to see you at a Sox game soon & maybe catch up on some chisme.
