This stage is one of the most important out of all the stages. It is the stage that teaches the child that He/she/them can trust a person. This is typically ages birth to 18 months. A example of this in my grandpa/s life would be when he was a very small child, his siblings would do activities with him. Through these activities he gained trust in his siblings.

This is the stage that the child will really start to question if he/she/them is independent and can they do it on their own. This is ages 18 months until about 3 years old. My grandpa went through this stage when he was learning to help his older siblings with things around the house. He was a farm kid.

This is the stage when the child will really start to question if they are “good” or even if he/she/they are “bad”. This is from about the age of 3 years old until 5 years old. When my grandpa was a boy, he learned this though games and exploring the farm. He was able to get independence and to learn he was able to gain this sense of knowing he was good. He was able to ty new things and activities.

This is the stage that the child starts to ask how can they be good at activities. This is a important age that children normally gain this through school. This is around age 6 years old to about 11 years old. My grandpa did gain this a little through school but, he also gained it through the farm and working. His father fell ill with cancer when my grandpa was 6 and my grandpa then had to help with the “mans” work around the house.

This is the stage and age group that the child really starts to ask, “who am I”. They are trying to figure out who they are and what they are trying to become. This is from about 12 years old to 18 years old. Around 18 years of age my grandpa started to move out and got a “real” job. He was able to then make friends and other outside connections.

My grandpa does this a lot but, we always conclude yes. He has lived a very full life and is still living it up. At 75, he is still a officer and helping his family in all the ways he can.
