Completing these assessments gave me two insights. Firstly, I discovered that academic responsibilities can be a major source of stress, especially when deadlines are approaching. I can now anticipate stressful times and make appropriate plans because of this knowledge. I also learned that I frequently fail to recognize the importance of taking regular breaks from studying, which contributes to stress. I could be more productive and feel better overall if I took short breaks.

Two goals for stress management By the end of the semester, I hope to have a weekly study schedule with specified periods for reading, relaxing, and having time for my hobbies. I'll do this by keeping track of my responsibilities using a planner or app and making sure I take regular breaks from my work. To help reduce feelings of overwhelm, I will also include at least ten minutes of mindfulness or meditation each day. Using apps that offer guided meditation, I'll start slowly and work my way up to making this a regular habit throughout the semester.

Every week, I'll follow up with a close friend who shares my desire for self-improvement. They will offer support and help keep me motivated. They will support me and hold me responsible for reaching my stress-reduction goals.

Last week, I committed to practicing progressive muscle relaxation each evening before bedtime to help me relax and relieve the stress of the day. I was able to get PMR into my daily routine for six of the seven days. I followed my plan mostly, except for one day when I was too busy. I found PMR to be quite beneficial; after each session, I felt more relaxed and had better sleep. It helped me in relieving physical tension that had built up, particularly after long study sessions. I also felt better rested when I woke up on the days that I practiced. I learned from this experience that physical relaxation has a big impact on how stressed out I feel mentally. I will continue doing PMR before bed because it has shown to be both easy to use and effective. In the future, I might also try using it during the day anytime I start to feel stressed, especially when deadlines or challenging online classes are approaching.
