As an undergraduate student, you will be assigned a primary advisor who you are required to meet with once a semester to pre-register for classes. Our office also has a career service team. How do I get a schedule?

At Purdue, we use a batch preregistration system when beginning the process of scheduling courses. With your advisor's help, you will request courses, and then on later on the semester, all of the course requests will go into a batch. This allows for all schedules to be released at the same time to students who completed and submitted their course request for.

How to drop a course

If you want to drop a course, watch this video! If you drop a course within the first 2 weeks of the semester (for a 16 week course) it will not appear on your transcript. Any classed dropped after this time will need to receive approval from your advisor, and the course will appear as a "W", but it will not affect your GPA.

Anna has been with the department since January 2022 and is from Lafayette, IN. She is also one of the advisors for the ANSC Ambassadors, a group of students that represent our Animal Sciences department. When not at work, you will find her coaching track for a few local middle schools. Anna also will love to talk to you about her dog, Caly.

Ashley York - academic advisor

Ashley serves as the Director of Academic Advising and Student Services for the department since June 2012. She is a native of Tippecanoe County and lives on a small grain and beef farm with her family. Ashley teaches AGR 11400 and also leads a study abroad program to Greece. When not at work, you will find her at her children’s sporting events, helping her husband in the barn, and playing with her new puppy Bluey. She is also a proud Purdue graduate!

Claire Adams - academic advisor

James has been with Animal Sciences since September 2021. His hometown is tiny Belleville, KS. In addition to academic advising, he also serves as a career advisor and teaches ANSC 181, the freshman career exploration class. Outside of work, James loves to travel with his wife and son and cheer on the Purdue football team. He advises the Purdue Collegiate Cattlemen’s Club and his spirit animal is the American bison.

This concentration is best suited for those interested in business aspects of the animal industry and gaining knowledge in accounting, sales and marketing, and business management.

Behavior/Well-Being

Students desiring a balance of animal production, behavioral sciences, and well-being are best served by this option in the department of Animal Sciences. Careers available as managers of animal production units (e.g., beef cow-calf or feed lot manager, flock supervisor, swine manager or horse trainer or breeder). Limited career opportunities may be available as an animal trainer, zoo environmental enhancement specialist, companion animal consultant, breed association animal well-being specialist, and pet safety education specialist for a humane society.

Biosciences

Intended for students seeking careers in research or technical services related to animal nutrition, growth and development, animal genetics, reproduction, animal well-being, and management. Those in this specialization should have a strong interest in and curiosity in discovery and have enjoyed their high school biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics courses. Students who aspire to careers in research and teaching in colleges and universities or in agribusinesses should enroll in this option.

Pre-Veterinary Medicine

Den Pops

A go-kart race held annually since 1958. The Purdue Grand Prix Foundation was born after a dream, inspired by a few enthusiastic students’ late night bull session, became a reality. The students wanted a way for engineering students at Purdue to exercise their skills, knowledge, and enthusiasm.

The track is located behind the Schwartz Tennis Center on McCormick Road near the intersection of McCormick and Cherry Lane.
