My class used highlighters to answer their i-ready Math review paper.
I felt that my students were on-task and engaged in a task because it was something different.
Tip: I gave draw time before asking them to get down to business.

This is a new attention getter I tried after seeing my students were tired of my usual "ch-ch-ch-ch-ch" sound. Now my students stop what they are doing with their hands and give me full attention. 
How to:
Teacher says- SHARK BAIT
Students say- HOO HA HA and make a fin above their head.
Teacher- ready?

cut review into strips
ask students to use their nose to pick up the review with their noses.
bring back to their group to solve the problem

*You will need a large glob of Vaseline
* Keep a plate and spoon on the group table to "refill" their nose.

Put a fact you'd like to review in each Hula Hoop (could be addition, subtraction, multiplication...) Label the outside of the hula hoop like a clock. Students line up in two teams. The first person in each line races to the hula hoop and answers any math fact by writing it on the inside of the hula hoop. They then hand off the marker to a teammate. The first team to fill the hula hoop wins!
