My class used highlighters to answer their i-ready Math review paper.
I felt that my students were on-task and engaged in a task because it was something different.
Tip: I gave draw time before asking them to get down to business.
You're welcome to borrow my black light.
-Lauren Denny

Hula Hoop Facts

Tape 2 Hula Hoops to the whiteboard. Put a fact you'd like to review in each Hula Hoop (could be addition, subtraction, multiplication...) Label the outside of the hula hoop like a clock. Students line up in two teams. The first person in each line races to the hula hoop and answers any math fact by writing it on the inside of the hula hoop. They then hand off the marker to a teammate. The first team to fill the hula hoop wins! It's differentiated and builds teamwork, plus, students have wait time to figure out a fact before answering it!

A review game! I cut up our quiz and other practice problems. Students went and grabbed a question; once they answered it and checked with me they could crumple it up and shoot for one of two trash cans! (One placed farther away for a 2 point opportunity) my student’s kept track of points as table groups, but it could be individual as well. They were engaged, learning AND rooting eachother on!
