Primarily, Jen has lead an amazing life. It all began when she was born...without legs. Luckily, Jen was adopted by a great family, the Brickers. The Brickers were a family that fully supported Jen. She was encouraged to be an athlete despite her disability. In the section 'Agile and Fearless', it states that Jen would spend her time, "scurrying up rocks, swimming, and bouncing on the big trampoline in her family's backyard". Further along in the article it claims that Jen, "could speed around the softball diamond on her hands, snowboarded, fished and rode horses. She even taught herself to roller-skate on her hands". All of these examples clearly demonstrate that Jen was a person who was determined and did not let the fact that she had no legs limit her hopes and dreams.  Furthermore, Jen was able to travel the world and perform her areal act.  This is an act that requires her to use her gymnastic abilities to twirl in the air suspended only by a long ribbon.  Performing for people all around the world is a feat that most performers aspire to do.  The author realized what a wonderful person Jen was and that she led an interesting life despite what some people would consider a debilitating disability. She/He first summarizes what Jen's early life was like to inform the reader and then goes on about her reasoning. The response has wonderful transition words and phrases and quotes the exact piece of evidence and states where it was from, and furthermore explains how the tiniest piece of text from the article is relevant to her reasons. And lastly she ends with a strong conclusion to tie up this constructed response. I would score this response a four because it was very well written. It included the correct pieces of text evidence, not too much but not too little. The author explained the text evidence so that the reader could understand clearly what she meant. The author gave multiple examples of the text to support her reasoning about why the article was named, "The Amazing Powers of Jen Bricker." Also, the prompt is stated clearly and there was not many spelling errors. Another thing that was good was how the reader could have understood what happened in the article without having to read it.
