         <description><![CDATA[<div>We’ve spent the afternoon creating different styles of cave paintings to introduce our new topic all about the Stone Age.&nbsp;<br>The children created their own hand impressions using white paint and their own drawing of a bison using charcoal. They then experimented with drawing their own cave drawings of animals and hunters.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

Joel told us all about his history of becoming a bob-sleigher and his experience of training in Canada. He talked about how his bravery to train in this sport led him to get a bronze medal in the Olympics and even attending a party at the Queen’s house. The children then had an opportunity to ask Joel questions.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

The children then experimented with three different styles of painting:<br><br>Tonking - paint is blotted with a cloth or paper towel to for, new marks.&nbsp;<br>Scraffito - scratching through the paint to reveal the surface underneath.<br>Impasto - paint thickened with flour or PVA glue.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

The children then experimented with creating their own mono print by preparing a smooth surface with ink, creating marks directly into the ink and rubbing paper over the top gently. They then made their own impressed block by using a small ball of clay. They used their own blocks to create a series of repeating patterns. It was a very messy but very fun afternoon!&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

The children learnt about how chocolate is made and the history of the factory \ Cadbury family.&nbsp;</div><div>We discussed our favourite \ least favourite chocolates, explored Cadburys competitors, talked about how the technology in the factory works, the appropriate, protective gear that workers need to wear,&nbsp; Cadbury adverts and their sustainable chocolate wrapping designs. The children learnt lots of interesting facts and Mrs Brunt is ready to apply for a job as a chocolate taster!&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>We had a lovely visit from Mrs Cartwright this afternoon, in our Alvechurch library. Mrs Cartwright came to tell us all about her job as a radiographer. She showed us what an x-ray room looks like, and lots of pictures of different types of x-rays, children’s and adults. Mrs Cartwright also showed the children what a CT scanner and ultrasound scanner looks like and explained what they’re used for. Mrs Cartwright explained how she worked hard at school and the subjects she studied in order to get her qualification to become a radiographer. The children then had an opportunity to ask questions and our student teacher (Mrs Carter) shared a story at the end of our session.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

We explored animals that live in rainforests, deserts, ocean and polar regions, exploring the similar adaptations the animals may have in each habitat. The children then worked in pairs to research their own animals, its habitat and an adaptation the animal has for its habitat.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

The children then used a range of colours to dye their sheet of fabric and created their own collagraph block to print patterns on to their fabric, once it had dried.
