I think the problem I'd like to tackle this semester is student use of large language models and other AI tools in the classroom. Currently, my school has a limited policy position on the use of these tools in the classroom and faculty lack the resources to broach these topics with students. My solution would be to create an instructional module that can be embedded into our LMS for faculty use. The module would preview various AI tools, demonstrate how they work, and discuss ethical ways to use them for learning and assignment completion. I would also have some instruction on avoiding plagiarism with AI-generated content.

This semester, I want to address an issue that directly affects my classroom. The reading curriculum used by my district is excellent but very time-consuming, which limits small group instruction. Each K-3 lesson includes a read-aloud, foundational skills, language, writing, and an independent or partner reading of a chapter. Small group instruction is crucial in elementary classrooms to close learning gaps and prevent students from falling behind as they advance to middle and high school.

To address this, I plan to introduce EdPuzzle to my colleagues as a way to streamline the read-aloud portion of our lessons. EdPuzzle features videos by Kurt Nilsson that include engaging visuals and comprehension questions, allowing students to complete the read-aloud independently. This frees up time for teachers to work with small groups and address learning gaps. I anticipate conducting the training on Schoology, as it is the platform our district uses.

It would need to include:

An introductionEdPuzzle

Instructions on how to create an account and create a class

How to find videos

How to save videos

How to add questions

How to assign the EdPuzzles on Schoology

The problem I'd like to address this semester is focused around user experience, training, and onboarding within an LMS. The Client that I've identified for the semester project has noticed a lack in proper onboarding and engagement within their new LMS tool.

My proposed solution would be to analyze the needs of each team using the LMS, design proper e-learning modules tailored towards the LMS, and ensure the functionality of each module. This way, for current employees and future hires they will be properly introduced to the tool and be comfortable using it. This will create streamlined order of operations and ensure all team members are universally trained.

I have reached out to two potential clients for my project. I haven't received definite confirmation but I think I will be working with a psychology graduate school professor teaching an online course. He is new to teaching and is struggling to come up with course objectives, content, lessons and assessments, and upload content into the LMS. I guess that could be considered a problem or the problem could be that students need to learn the material and meet the academic objectives in order to apply the skills when they begin working with real clients. Or both! This would be an interesting and challenging topic for me because I'd be working with content I am unfamiliar with. I would have to rely on his expertise as a subject matter expert, which is a real-world scenario I will be faced with as an ID. Even though I may not actually be building the course in an LMS, this would be something that he will actually use in his online course design that will actually contribute to real-world problems. Who knows, I may even be able to build some real activities and help him upload it into their LMS.

My proposed solution would be to begin by analyzing his gaps for creating the course, what the goals of the course are for the students, what skills do they need to know to apply in real-world settings, and getting a general ides of the students' background knowledge. From there I would begin by working with him to outline course objectives, create a syllabus, and design the module content and activities. He wants to include interactive and collaborative activities for his students that will prepare them for practicing psychology in the real-world in their future careers.

I'm an instructional designer for a company and the team I'm on has a very narrow area of focus and we can only provide compliance training. The problem is that the group we support also needs operations training. We have a team of SMEs for different operations topics that end up providing the operations training, however, most of the training they provide consists of them reading the words verbatim off of very crowded ppt slides and learners check out very quickly. Most of the "training" they provide lacks goals or objectives and is typically unorganized.

At this time, there are no plans to grow our team to be able to develop/deliver operations training and the SMEs are "on their own" for the foreseeable future. The problem I will likely try to solve is this: knowing that their vehicles to deliver information are limited, how can the team of SMEs provide better operations training.

I anticipate this including some sort of web-based tutorial on how to develop objectives & content, and a tip sheet or two to support the tutorial, but we shall see where the analysis takes me.

I've reached out about two other potential ideas, but have not heard back from the clients yet.

On the project that I am currently assigned to at work, the process for requesting a storyboard review from SMEs is unorganized and creates conflicts of interests. We use a project-wide Jira board that aids in tracking tasks, but with how critical SMEs and their eyes are to this project, they constantly get pulled in multiple directions and it feels as if they need their own idiosyncratic review request system and Jira board just for ISDs and SMEs to track their interpersonal communicative relationship, especially as due dates start to appear on the horizon. Having a singular board for a project of over 50 personnel and over ten swim lanes makes for a very scattered and unorganized Jira board with hundreds of tasks going on when looking at the board in default view.

My proposed solution, with the guidance of my client (one of the SMEs), is to create an internal ISD-SME request system or process by combining applications such as Google Forms, Zapier, Slack, Jira, and Power BI strictly for organizing storyboard review requests into a hierarchy of priority that allows for SMEs to look at and know exactly what to prioritize. ISDs and SMEs will have access to a Power BI dashboard that compresses all of the Jira card data into digestible visuals, while now having access to a board that exists only for ISDs and SMEs to track their storyboard relationship without extra, unrelated clutter. Information included in requests will consist of: Module due date, a requested priority made by the ISD (to be approved by a Lead ISD and Lead SME), description of request, a link to any accompanying Jira cards from either board, module and lesson number, and extra information (screenshots, images, links to SharePoint folders, the storyboard file, anything that may help request clarity). Each module will have its individual storyboard requests under it, with a default view that includes all requests across all modules for SMEs to focus both on an individual module and the broader scope of that task’s importance.

The reformation of the storyboard review request process aims to streamline ISD and SMEs workflows by giving adequate time for SMEs to review SBs, and for ISDs to get their SBs reviewed and turned back around to them in a timely fashion with all questions answered for both parties.

This semester I would like to address a problem that is being faced by an Instructional Coach in a middle school. She noticed that the teachers she coaches were having difficulty with creating virtual assignments, assessments, and interactive video activities. Many teachers are only using the Schoology platform and are unable to meet the required assignment count. She also mentioned that many times teachers are told that they have access to various platforms, but they are never taught how to effectively use them.

My proposed solution would be to create training modules for Quizizz. This platform allows teachers to create lessons, assessments, and interactive video activities. There are also many new AI features available to connect to other apps and help with creating content. The modules would include: an introduction to the Quizizz library, how to create a lesson, how to create an assessment, how to create a video activity, and how to assign the Quizizz to students. The goal would be for the Instructional Coach to provide this tutorial on Quizizz to her teachers to help them create new resources for their classrooms.

During this semester, I will be working alongside with Coach Miles at Robert Brown Middle School. Coach Miles has communicated a desire to explore more creative ways to teach their defensive line the game of football, both at a basic level and possibly a program which could help them become better coaches and help improve their players learning.

A notable problem that many coaches, from youth to high school level, are often not willing to adapt and learn creativity ways to teach the game of football, whether it's a basic or advanced level. While this may not apply to all coaches, it is still a common issue within the sport. Many coaches usually only change their mindset when they see rival schools or a college program using new learning tool in order to reach success.

I propose to Coach Miles using technology such as 3-D animation or video visuals to assist with learning objectives. I truly believe with the help of progressive skill development, gamified learning, adaptability to different leaning styles and visual leaning aids would definitely support us in this journey. By implementing these tools, we can enhance the knowledge of football not only for youth but also for coaches, many of whom may not have the knowledge or may not played the sport.

To be honest, this is only a very small piece to the vision that I am expressing to you all. I can see using the model like ADDIE on a large scale with create a program in the future for sports.

I would would like to address improving social interactions with E-Learning (LMS). This generation of students are having a hard time speaking to people and holding a conversation. I would like to improve there social interactions with LMS to force them in a team environment to build those skills along with teamwork and other useful skill we use everyday.

My solution is to create a learning module that is exciting and engaging for the students. They must depend on each other to solve the problem. The best way to improve social interactions is by creating an escape room LMS game. An escape room has always been a great way to get people thinking and also how they think. I believe this will be great for the students.

At my company when you join and then after every two years we are required to create when you’re a new hire then maintain an internal resume that is called a curriculum vitae. When you start you have sixty days to create, DocuSign and upload into Veeva Vault. Then every 2 years or if you get promoted update the CV document, DocuSign and replace it in the Veeva Workflow so that it creates a history with the document. Over the years there have been multiple templates used and different workflows. We have been told that this is the final workflow and template. The issue for managers and employees is that they’re all or can be in different phases of workflows and templates so their updating can be confusing. Employees struggling when they get stuck and cancelling the document which essentially makes the history of the document end which when an auditor asks to see the previous document or show the history of the document, we are unable to produce. This training along with the job aids and videos for each scenario of where the employees are in the workflow would allow employees to have more resources to view and refer to that will allow them to not make the mistakes that they are currently making. This will move the entire department, of over fifteen hundred employees toward being in compliance with our SOPs.

With launching in 12 short weeks, the team needs to quickly onboard the volunteers and get them to work as quickly as possible.

My proposed solution is a brief online e-course that the learner can take online when they sign up to be a volunteer.

The problem I would like to address this semester is with the integration of interactive technology in the classroom. Many teachers that I work with are having a hard time incorporating different types of interactive technology within their classrooms. With many schools giving students Chromebooks, teachers are looking for ways that students can use those while still teaching students from their presentations or designed activities.

My proposed solution to this is to create a brief course for teachers on how to use Nearpod. Nearpod allows teachers to display presentations to the students computers and lock the screen so that they cannot enter a different application or tab. Within Nearpod, teachers can create questions for students to answer and then get the results immediately on their screens. It will also allow teachers to incorporate digital assignments and activities through this software. The teacher can also advance the presentation and it will advance it on all student screens as well. This will allow teachers to have an interactive technology within their classroom without having to worry about students being off task on their computers.

I am a new teacher in the district, school, and classroom that I am in! I am a Pre-K teacher for children with Autism! The problem that I would like to address this semester is developing and implementing clear, measurable Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals for students that have Autism. Due to being a new teacher I have had limited experience with writing IEP goals, except for an assignment or two in college. Therefore, I am not confident in my abilities to write clear and measurable IEP goals. The other problem that I am running into is implementing the IEP goals that were written last Spring and this past Summer for my students. I have seven children and three different individuals wrote the IEP goals that I have been working with this semester. Each individual has their own style of writing IEP goals and there is some inconsistency amongst the goals that I am having to work with. Some students have seven goals and some have up to twelve goals. I am having to take data on seven students and all of their goals at least twice a week! The inconsistency and lack of clarity in the written goals has been challenging for my Paraprofessionals and I to understand (at times)! We have had to use our best judgement as to what the IEP goal is asking us to observe, because the goals are not always clear.

My proposed solution to this problem is to have the district that I work in train teachers on how to use MagicSchool AI. This is an AI tool that is designed to simplify the creation of IEPs and the measurable goals that are written within them. This would be help the teachers in the district to be consistent with one another as far as writing IEP goals goes, to help lessen the confusion from teacher to teacher as our students get older and move from our classroom to the next!

Summary of This Semester’s Challenge and Proposed Solution

Challenge: This semester, our organization faced a significant challenge with college boards that need to create and send out their own communications. These boards are not employees of our organization, but since we manage them, it is crucial that they adhere to our branding guidelines. Currently, these groups do not understand what the guidelines are or why they need to follow them. This lack of understanding leads to inconsistent branding, which undermines the unified image we aim to present. A consistent brand is vital for making our communications seem important and cohesive, which in turn supports the boards’ fundraising efforts—the primary purpose of their existence.

Proposed Solution: To address this issue, we propose the following steps:

Education and Training:

Develop a comprehensive training program for board members that explains the importance of branding and how to apply our organization’s guidelines.

Create easy-to-understand materials, such as a branding handbook and video tutorials, that outline the key elements of our brand and provide practical examples.

Accessible Resources:

Set up a centralized online portal where board members can access branding resources, templates, and guidelines.

Ensure that these resources are user-friendly and regularly updated to reflect any changes in our branding strategy.

Support and Oversight:

Assign a dedicated branding liaison to each board to provide ongoing support and answer any questions.

Implement a review process where communications created by the boards are checked for adherence to branding guidelines before being sent out.

Feedback and Improvement:

Collect feedback from board members on the training and resources provided to continuously improve the support we offer.

Monitor the effectiveness of the branding adherence and make adjustments as needed to ensure consistency.

By implementing these steps, we aim to ensure that all communications from the college boards align with our organization’s branding guidelines, thereby enhancing the overall image and effectiveness of their fundraising efforts.
