We learned about how Rome collapsed but did you relate it to the possible collapse of the country we know and love? We watched as many social, political, and economic issues divided the great empire causing it's political scene to come crumbling down at the citizens feet's. You might not think this could happen to us yet but, I think we are seeing many of their issues mirrored in our Government/Society right now.

What was one of the biggest issues we faced in the 2020 presidential election? There are many things you could say. For me and many others it was how scared I was about saying who I voted for! No matter which side you were on you were told how un-American you were. It didn't feel like it was about the betterment of America but who we idolized more. This is one of the biggest issues that happened with Rome. The people of Rome forgot what being loyal to Rome was.

Another one of the reasons we see this massive Empire fall was because of blood baths between each Emperor. Was this because of a bad emperor or was it because of the amount loyal to the previous emperor? If there is anything we remember from the 2020 election is was the uproar of upset people against the results. There were riots across the country. Some so bad innocent people were killed without reason.

The creation of social media makes these discussion for America world wide. Causing the initial issue as hand to be put on and even broader scale. Imagine if there was social media during the Roman Collapse.

In Rome the first biggest split of land we see is the East and West split which finally finished around 395 BC. The entire project was to try and stabilize the Roman Empire. Each side was run with it's own emperor and they governed themselves independently. Where are we currently seeing this?

This wasn't just 2020 either. This isn't a padlet saying Trump or Biden is bad. No matter what a president does they will be labeled as not good enough. We are at the point where it doesn't matter what they do, it's how much the public loves them. This exact situation happened in Rome. If you cannot see the image it says "Obama where's your papers." With a birth certificate next to it where Kenya is crossed off and Hawaii is re-written.

We are currently seeing a divide between the Norther side of the United States of American and Southern. This divide is so bad many states want to separate. However, this isn't the first time we have seen this happen in our homeland. Would this solve the problems like the Roman Empire thought it would? Or is it just the beginning to the end.

Unlike Rome, we have a unlimited amount of knowledge on how it is like to live as a poor individual in the United States. We know how much money the lower class are paid vs the higher class. How know much money in circulation is given to high class vs. lower and middle class.

Do the current presidents in the united states inspire respect or loyalty? Not respect or loyalty to themselves but loyalty to the country and respect to each other. They want it for themselves. They don't inspire others to go out and respect those opposing political views. They inspire those to shame people against them. In Rome they wanted to be seen a gods in most cases, just like our friend Domitian above. They didn't inspire respect or loyalty in the people. People didn't care about those less fortunate. People stopped respecting anyone besides their idol.

Will a weakened Political system cause us to fall to the same fate the Romans did? Rome was picked apart by what seems everyone. People all over wanted a piece of what was the Great Roman Empire. A place that had so much power is now up for the taking. What would stop other countries from picking the U.S.A apart if we were to even have a minor collapse? I can imagine the headlines now..."The Once Great U.S.A loses all its land after collapse."

People in Rome within poverty couldn't afford anything. They mostly got their income from access to land. No land means no money. If you weren't able to work because of mental or physical illnesses you were left to hope someone would care about you. We in America are seeing that people making <15$ an hour can barely even get housing. We see that mental health care (although improving) isn't working. I see people being unable to access a telephone almost unable to find jobs.

Rome is most known for it's military similar to the United States. Seeing as one of the reasons Rome fell was war I think it's something fair to look at. Although Rome initial collapse was a civil war, any war will put complications on all the things I had already listed. We are currently approaching the possibility of another World War.

War and poverty can only mean one thing, population decline. It goes without saying that Rome's population was steadily declining after reaching its peak. 2nd-4th century had their population dropping by almost 2% every 10 years. A hot topic right now in the media is how the United States is struggling with the same thing. Poverty among middle-aged people is making it hard to have children.

In Rome you would see they began with one general religion and slowly transitioned to having many specific ones, each wanting to be the one the government listen to. First being very polytheistic but soon we'd see Christianity, Judaism and many small Egyptian Cults popping up throughout the land. This isn't saying one religion is correct or one is better than another. However, in the United States we are seeing many religions spread and show face. All demanding equal respect and authority which isn't possible.
