Why were cities much smaller 200 years ago?
Cities were much smaller because there were less people and things weren't as technologically advanced.
Define urban fringe and give an example.
The ring of small towns and suburbs that surround a big city. Ex: rural, open land.

Suburbs is a developed area at the edge of a city that is mainly homes. Many suburbs also have stores and businesses. An example of a suburb is a place like eagle river.
A suburb was created by buying a land outside of the city. The suburb was created because of a lot of people living in urban core making it hard to move around since there's no space.
Cars make it possible to live in the suburbs.
