Students come in and hang up their backpacks, etc. and then take a seat. Each day has a certain morning work (TTM, AR, sentence surgeon, typing skills, etc) that is posted on the smart board as well as posters around the room. Students may quietly talk to one another until 8:30. Then we are silent for announcements as well as them working on their morning work. When the announcements are on I take attendance. When announcements finish students put their morning work away and get prepared for their next class while a student who followed all directions takes the attendance book to the office. I give and take Dojos in the morning when students are or are not following directions.

Students enter the room, put their folders in the mailbox, calendar and paperwork in the basket and then hang their things on the hooks. Morning work is on their desk waiting for them or I have a student (who it will help) pass it out. After they are finished, they put their work in the done box and they could get a book or a "done" activity. After announcements and attendance we begin our morning message and routine.

Students turn in HW & reading log folder, record new HW in agenda book, & complete Simple Solutions math problems. They also practice writing their sight words on the back of the math page. During announcements I take attendance and check in the homework. Students get a responsibility dojo point for being at school on time. Once announcements end we quickly check the math problems & students receive a dojo point for participation. We click the random button on dojo & the student that is selected gets a perseverance point if all their morning routine has been completed. We begin math rotations at 8:50.

Every morning, students come in hang up their things, turn in their turn in folder, and read the directions on the Smart Board for that day. They have morning work that they need to complete because we discuss it during reading. Each morning the complete the word of the day on Google Docs. They define the word, give synonyms and antonyms, and use it in a sentence. They are due every Friday of that week. So, they know that right when they come in they need to get to work and begin learning.
