I learned that ATL is teaching students skills to be good citizens and learners rather than just good students.
I learned that teachers must be willing to take chances in order to make ATL work in their classrooms.
I learned that incorporating ATL skills allows students to take more control over their learning.

1. ATL uses real-world examples and scenarios to engage students and directly involve them in their own learning.
2. Teachers should apply IB skills to their practice just as they expect students to exercise these same skills.
3. Learning is inquiry based and assessment is based around this.

1. I found it interesting that one of the teachers very directly challenged his students to rethink their responses. I felt he did so in a respectful and engaging way.
2. I found the use of environment to engage students interesting in the example where the English teacher has her students observe a setting directly in order to inspire their writing.
