I think that this rule is important especially with regards to funding and fundraisers because it seeking funding (i.e., grants, sponsors, etc.) and fundraisers can be quite competitive at times as there are many services going for the same grants, sponsors, etc. Therefore it is important to keep this rule in mind and remember that the goal is to support the individuals, families, and/or communities. Therefore it is important that we do not put down our competitors to lift ourselves up because the only people who suffer in that case is the individuals, families, and communities who need the service the agencies provide.

I feel that this rule is important because it keeps the confidentiality of the client that is support the organization. An example I can think of in my placement is a donor supporting a safe injection site. There are protestor and people that are against safe injection site and will go after the donor. This donor life can change if their confidentiality is broken and they can become endanger or deal with consequences. If a organization cant keep confidentiality, there is not point in doing a donation.

An imperative part when forming the beginning, middle and end stages of a fundraiser is having public trust, being transparent about your intentions behind your fundraiser and the purpose of it while having the best interest of every individual involved. These first steps, like transparency, respect and best interests of fundraising ethics are the building blocks to creating a successful and possibly ongoing in some cases, fundraiser. Additionally, one that others will benefit from. I feel that if you do not take this first set of ethics into consideration, it is creating opportunities for harmful practices and failures when it comes to reaching the overall goal of your fundraiser.

If you want people to respect your integrity, it's your responsibility to use the money responsibly once you receive it. It means that you need to provide donors with accurate information on how funds will be spent, no matter if they give $1 or $1000. By ensuring that the correct information is communicated, you can maintain good relationships with them and increase donations.
- Jerilee

This is an important code to follow when requesting sponsorship for fundraisers or charity, as we must remember those sponsoring are in partnership with us. It is their company or organizations name on the donation and it is our duty to keep them in the loop of where their finances are going and how they will be used for the charity. It helps to build rapport and trust between charity and sponsor.

"Ensure that contributions are used in accordance with donors' intentions. Ensure proper stewardship of all revenue sources, including timely reports on the use and management of such funds."

I think this rule is really important because if an organization is fortunate enough to receive a donation from a donor, and this donor has specified their intentions with how they want their donation to be used, then it is important that the organization respects and fulfills this. Organizations who do not do this, go against the ethical code as they are being dishonest towards the donor, whose donations is an critical part of the running of their organization. It also reflects poorly on the organization because it demonstrates that they do not value their donors nor their donations because they choose to dismiss the wishes of the donors. It is imperative that organizations be honest and transparent with how they handle their donations, whether that be creating reports or logs to highlight how they are using and managing the funds they receive from donors. This shows the donors that their donations are being used the way they intended. By not adhering to this rule, organizations risk losing potential or future donors which as stated above, is a major source of revenue.
