Step 2: On a black surface with some rust colored light spots is the word time spelled with toothpicks. The toothpicks are at an angle, like they are laying flat, but the surface is tipping. The toothpicks are light tan and some ends are a darker tan. Time is spelled in all caps with the toothpicks.
Step 3: The artist uses line as the element of design. The toothpicks create lines that spell the word. The eye follows the lines and eventually sees the word.
The artist uses unity as the principle of design. Taking toothpicks and creating a word as one. Together one element becomes two. The viewer looks at the word before their eyes lead to the individual toothpicks.
Step 4: The artist is expressing time. The letters are the ups and downs of time. The capitalization of the letters could represent that time is over powering and very important. With the toothpicks being separated might mean time is not one, it is multiple and all over. The background suggests in the dark, time is the light. 
Step 5:  The photo has many interpretations and is a unique way to express a word. The background goes with the words and the lighting and colors go together. The black background makes the word pop since it is white and it goes together. They kind of compliment each other in a black and white way.
