As we grow older, we become more and more like our parents, whether in our physical traits or our behavioral
traits. But which one of them you resemble more? Are you genetically more similar to your mom or your dad?
The answer to this question may seem easy, but when we relate it to genetics, it would not be that easy. Read the following excerpt:

As we watch kids grow up, we tend to look for resemblances between them and their parents. However,
in science, it is not a question of which parent contributes more genetically. It is rather whose genetics work more. To make it clearer, resemblance to one parent does not only depend on the total number of genes a child
inherits from a mother or a father, it also depends on which parents' genes are actually doing more. In both ways, scientists think that the answer isn't exactly 50/50.

Before you read
-Do you look alike or different from your parents and siblings?
- Do you have any unique features from your siblings?
1- Read the following text about the importance of genetics.
Every person is unique. Part of what makes you unique is your genes. Genes are the instructions inside each of your cells. They control how you look and how your body works. Since everyone has slightly different genes, everyone has a different set of instructions. Genes are one reason why you are unique!
A person has two copies of each gene, one from the mother and one from the father. Genes carry instructions that tell your cells how to work and grow. Genetics helps to explain what makes you unique, or one of a kind and why family members look alike.
Children inherit pairs of genes from their parents. A child gets one set of genes from the father and one set from the mother. These genes can match up in many ways to make different combinations. This is why many family members look a lot alike and others don’t look like each other at all.
Why some diseases like diabetes or cancer run in families?
Some diseases are caused when there is a change in the instructions in a gene. This is called a mutation.
Every person has many mutations. Sometimes these changes have no effect or are even slightly helpful. But sometimes they can cause disease. For example, changes in your genes passed on by your parents may make you more likely to develop type 2 diabetes. If you are active and eat a healthy diet, you may be able to lower your risk.
<var>Taking time to learn about health and diseases that run in your family is worth it! It will help you understand</var>
your own health and make healthy choices.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK115604

إذاً أعتقد أن هؤلاء الصغار يقومون في الواقع بحسابات معقدة باستخدام الاحتمالات الشرطية التي يراجعونها لاكتشاف كيف يعمل العالم من حولنا.
So I think those babies are actually making complicated calculations with conditional probabilities that they're revising to figure out how the world works.

There is a world all around us that is invisible to the eye.

Freeman: BUT EVERYTHING WE OBSERVE IN THE WORLD AROUND US

علينا أن نفهم العالم من حولنا بشكل أفضل.
We have to do a better job of understanding the world around us.

عندما ننظرُ إلى العالم من حولنا فإنه يبدو صُلباً بالفعل.
When we look at the world around us, it seems to be really solid.

1-The
The meaning of the words in bold: Baby Cord: a flexible cordlike structure containing blood vessels and attaching a human or other mammalian fetus to the placenta during gestation. Stem cells: are special human cells that are able to develop into many different cell types. This can range from muscle cells to brain cells. In some cases, they can also fix damaged tissues. Treat: give medical care or attention to; try to heal or cure.Prevalent: widespread in a particular area or at a particular time.
2- The BCJ is the first licensed cell bank established by Jordanian ministry of health ,located in Amman which helps save stem cells to be used to save life threatening diseases.
3- Why was the baby cord established : it was established to help save stem cells to be used to save life threatening diseases.
4- Mention two diseases: 1. Cancer 2.
5- The center can affect the country medically and economically y by treating a widespread percentage of people affected by life threating diseases .economically the existing of such center attracts patients from other Arab and neighboring country to seek medical treatment here in Jordan which they will pay for .
6- Challenges for families:The collection of tissue from one individual for therapeutic use in another individual involves not only technical and medical issues, but also ethical and legal issues. Donors of cord blood are not merely depositing the leftover by- products of the birth process with interested researchers and physicians; rather, they are making a choice to do something that may potentially benefit either unknown beneficiaries or members of their own families. Pregnant women receive a great deal of information -sometimes conflicting-about the donation process and the consequences of different types of banking. It is crucial to discloseseveral kinds of information to the potential donor, including who has access to the cord blood once it is donated, where it is stored, how it is stored, and how the donor's privacy is protected.
7- I think it is very difficult to predict the future, but I think it will be obligatory if humans are strongly working to eradicate diseases that threaten the life of millions of people. Humanity must leave a legacy to future generation which will help them fight life threating diseases .

The use of electricity in daily life at all levels is too expensive to be emumerated. The electric power has transformed human life into an amazing experience of luxury, comfort and incredible ease. A great power became the slave of a human finger push. Push to a button brings the light on and the same act sets hundreds of thousands of appliances and machines in action. It is a miracle. The electricity revolutionized our houses, companies, factories and hospitals with useful tools The entertainment aids powered by electricity created a fancy world around us. The electricity helped humans go to space, land on moon and harness natural powers and resources.
السؤال السابع:
"A day without Electricity". Imagine how life would be without electricity in all over the world. Then, write a short paragraph describing that. Share your paragraph with your colleagues.
From my point of view, all the pleasures that a person needs can be found in the technology that uses electricity, including devices and equipment such as fans and air conditioners, as you mentioned, in addition to computers, laptops, mobile chargers and communication devices of all kinds, including televisions, radios and digital cameras.
Life without electricity is life without technology. And life without technology means cutting off communications with the outside world, so we do not find the development and progress that the West has in some things available to us, and therefore we will remain our place without progress or development.
This is a point of view, and from another point of view, the world without electricity would also have become devoid of technology, and perhaps this emptiness will make the person as he is according to his common sense, so he will endure hot or cold weather without adaptations or heaters and thus bear patience.
The language of dialogue between us will also increase, so we do not sit all the time in front of the television or computer, or play with electronic games.
He also does not use various means of communication, including devices and equipment, such as a mobile phone, computer, and laptop, and thus does not come into contact with the outside world, which has many evils as one of the aspects of technology, as well as avoiding the dangers of using these devices that we hear about these days from neuritis, eye strain and other modern diseases resulting from technology.
In the end, as the nature of life, everything has its faults and advantages. If we imagine life without electricity, it will have many faults, and with more focus, we will find that it has advantages as well.

One day I fell from the plane that was heading to Jordan from Australia, so the bird fell from the intensity of the winter and thorns, so I took the parachute so that I would not die and fell into a deep island with many caves and entered one of them, but the cave was dark and quiet, and there was a very deep hole when it reached the bottom The cave found that the place was very hot, and suddenly I saw the lava drowning in me, so I ran at full speed and the place exploded and pushed me towards the ocean on a tree floating on the ocean and lost consciousness. And when I woke up, I found myself in the Jordan on my bed, and it was all a dream 😅

Alma returned home thinking of the lesson she had in science. She wants to be a traveler in the future. Her
dream is visiting all the countries of the world on foot. She is particularly interested in continents’ formation
and how they will look like in the future.
 Read the following text and answer the questions below.
About 300 million years ago, Earth was not composed of seven continents. It was one massive supercontinent
called: Pangaea. This was surrounded by a single ocean called: Panthalassa. The theory was
originally put forward by German geologist Alfred Wegener in the early 20th Century. Not many people
believed him. Over the years, some scientists discovered that Wegener was actually correct. Similar fossils
and rocks were found in both the African Continent and the South American Continent suggesting a shared
land where animals could roam from the North Pole to the South Pole. By about 200 million years ago, the
forces that helped form Pangaea caused the super-continent to begin to break apart; such as weathering,
erosion, and Continuous, slow movement of tectonic plates that changes surface features.
Source: www.livescience.com
1- What is the main idea of the text?
2-Find the meaning of the words in bold.
[continent-theory-fossils-weathering-erosion-tectonic plates]
3-How did scientists prove Wegner’s theory?
 Look at the picture and answer the questions with your partner.
- Can you locate Jordan?
- Think of one advantage and disadvantage of Jordan's place in Pangaea.
- If you were in Pangaea, where would you like to live and why?
Discuss the answers with your colleague.
Think of the motion of plates in the future.
